many reasons to dislike mages
But they were doughnuts of darkness. Evil, damned doughnuts, tainted by the spawn of darkness . . . . . . which could obviously be redeemed only by passing through the fiery, cleansing inferno of a wizardly digestive tract.

Prelude on Herzliebster Jesu
Another quick handbell post
Right now we are working on "Prelude on Herzliebster Jesu" arranged by Fred Gramann, and I am just having the best time playing it. I play B4 C5 and when the Kedron melody comes I just wail on it, and it sounds amazing.
You know you're playing a great piece of music, when you can feel part of your soul pouring out of the instrument.Â
The Original Heavy Metal
My list of songs that I think would make awesome handbell arrangements keeps growing. I'm thinking I might need to bring these to Keith Burt again sometime soon. (arranger of most of the Raleigh Ringers rock tunes).Â
It's too bad that most of the list is made up of deep cuts that not even fans of the band would know well, or just obscure songs in general.Â
But you have to admit-the bass would be rocking the rift on "Headlong Flight".Â
Short list:
Starblind-Iron Maiden
Sinead-Within Temptation
Headlong Flight-Rush
Amaranth-Nightwish
New Constellation-Toad the Wet SprocketÂ
Thomas opened the throttle all the way and passed me, I kid you not, a shiny brass telescope. âSeriously?â I asked him. âEver since those pirate movies came out, theyâre everywhere,â he said. âIâve got a sextant, too.â âAny tent you have is a sex tent,â I muttered darkly, extending the telescope. Thomas smirked.
Cold Days,Jim Butcher
Confession:Â The beginning of the main theme reminds me so much of Merryâs song from Two Towers. I canât unhear it. Every time I play I sing it to myself.
I am so glad I'm not the only one who thinks this!!!!Â
âStar Trek?â I asked her. âReally?â âWhat?â she demanded, bending unnaturally black eyebrows together. âThere are two kinds of people in the universe, Molly,â I said. âStar Trek fans and Star Wars fans. This is shocking.â She sniffed. âThis is the post-nerd-closet world, Harry. Itâs okay to like both.â âBlasphemy and lies,â I said.â â Jim Butcher, Ghost Story
You know you're obsessed with Dragon Age when...
A coworker goes "ugh" and you have to restrain yourself from shouting "disgusted noise"!
Gah! I need this book now!
Oh Rae, you're so screwed
As I get closer to finishing the Dresden Files for the third time I canât help but reflect on my Dresden Files RPG, and just how screwed my character is.Â
(A little bit of background, the setting is Charlotte, SC. Rae Lawrence is the owner of the Stars and Scones a local coffee shop. She is an minor practitioner, who makes coffee potions, using powerful positive memories, as the spirit base. She is terminally chipper, and lives for brightening the lives of those around her. As part of our setting, our GM has featured the Spring and Fall Fairie courts (with Oberon and Puck as two of the major players). Rae has gotten into some deep shit with them as of late)
Over the course of 6 sessions she has:
1.) Lied directly to the Spring lady, and now owes her a favor
2.) Lost contact with the Wizard of Charlotte (and although thatâs not directly her fault the Wardens seem to think so
3.) Claimed a human, putting her under her protection, in front of Oberon and Puck.Â
4.) Made a promise to another fairie, which has thus gotten her in trouble with the Wardens.Â
5.) Asked another player to use their Wizards sight, and inadvertantly made them look upon a half red court Vampire.Â
Every interaction Harry has with either Mab, Lea, or anyone from Fairie for that matter, sends anxiety through me. And I say to myself âseriously you can learn from thisâ.Â
But Iâve had so much fun Role-playing Rae, screwups and all. I canât wait for the season finale next weekend.  Has anyone else done a Dresden Campaign? Have you done something/made a decision  so spectacularly terrible that youâre groaning about it for days afterward?

Changes by Jim Butcher (via rowanartist)
It seems like a lot of people might be reading Changes at the same time as me...or this might just be a coincidence.
Heh. Mab has a phat ass.
Confession:Â The song âCrazy Lifeâ by Toad the Wet Sprocket reminds me a lot of this series. If the title alone doesnât give it away, listen to the lyrics. âThereâs blood on the ground as far as you seeâ
Mod note: you can hear the song here.
Omg it's funny that you mention that because Toad the Wet Sprockets song "Is There Anyone Out There" reminds me of DA. Specifically because one the lyrics referance a breach.
I'm so glad I am not the only one who still listens to that band.
âBecause your balls are in a vise and Iâm the only one who can pull them out,â I said. He arched an elegant silver eyebrow. âOkay,â I said. âThat came out a little more homoerotic than I intended.â âIndeed,â said the Merlin.â
Jim Butcher - Turn Coat (via manga-books-and-cake)
Oh Harry. I love it when your mouth runs away with you.
Death Masks Book Five of The Dresden Files.
Also known as âFuck your feelingsâ
It was a downer of a book and I loved it.
I loved Death Masks. The books that feature Marcone heavily and have Nick and the Nickleheads as the villains tend to be my favorites in the series.
I've just finished reading "Turn Coat". "Changes" is up next. /prepares self for all the feels
