How do you feel about starlight glimmer’s motivation and backstory? Do you think it’s as unreasonable as Wallflower’s

I’m ngl Starlight was dramatic as hell 😭 there was no reason for girl to be doing all that

BUT I do think what makes Starlight an interesting character is that she doesn’t just buckle and submit to Twilight when offered a hand out of her situation - she doubles down.

Starlight is interesting because of her conviction to her beliefs and how she refuses and outright rejects Twilights attempts to change her mind.

When she DOES give in, it’s her own choice. Because twilight ADMITS that she and Starlight could fight for eternity, but it’s up to STARLIGHT to decide if what she believes to be true is worth destroying the world for. Starlight is the one who decides that it isn’t.

Starlight is a really cool character because of her conviction and determination; similar to Sunset !! Neither of them NEEDED to give in to Twilight because Twilight admits on both accounts that they have powers beyond what she is capable of dealing with alone

NOT TO INSERT MYSELF BUT I WANT TO ADD ON because i love Starlight so much. I agree… Starlight is an interesting character because she's dramatic!! A lot of people's complaints is that her backstory was 'weak' or 'poorly written' but I always thought that was on purpose because she is literally written to be an overreactive character. Spike asks her why she wouldn't just reach out to Sunburst again (in response to seeing her backstory), and then even Twilight says "that's ridiculous" to think cutie marks can take your friends away😭

Starlight has been constantly seen building resentment/being dramatic /overreact again and again and i never saw it as unreasonable because it’s meant to show us that these are her character traits and it defines so much of what she does and how she deals with things...

Completely agree on your wallflower video, and even her motivation sounds stupid, so you remove the awkward memories, so now no one knows you, instead of fixing it or even just trying to start over, and try making friends, you decide to erase someone who worked so hard to change, who didn’t even do anything to you at all, you erase her friends memories as retaliation……

I’m ngl I had way more things to say about her but didn’t want my video to turn into a rant 😭

Tbh I prefer equestria girls over the main series, theyres just something about it that makes me like it so much more

That’s fair !!! I get what you mean, I think what I like a lot about EQG is how human the characters feel (no pun intended)

There’s a layer to them that isn’t there in mlp that I can’t quite put my finger on other than it just feels very grounded in reality — which I understand is majorly the point , but they do it very well
