ps for those of you who remember me working on this years ago and curious what changed, old version below the cut

finally got my shit together and redid the sky. i’m so relieved that i actually like it this time, i spent so much time (and thinking!) on it originally but then i just couldn’t paint the clouds right and i was sooooo upset about it. but look! nice clouds! i did some cloud studies last year for this, so i’m glad it paid off. also made the background into a press wall to further drive the point that their whooole belief system is based on bullshit! again, i’m so relieved that i finally like it!

still trying to translate 80s shoujo vibe to my style, straight up lifting color palette from various Candy Candy illustrations this time

thing is

so i used to have this style right

and i think it looked more interesting than what i do now. the problem is that it’s vector and replicating it in raster should be easy but it breaks my brain bc the way i was making these is almost like a muscle memory, and going about it differently feels deeply unnatural

so basically what i’m trying to de is find a new rendering style that is fast and easy and looks vaguely shoujish but isn’t a direct attempt to copy myself
