Gwyn : What do we get if we finish the course?
Azriel : “Since there’s no chance in hell any of you will finish the course, we didn’t bother to get a prize.”
Gwyn : “We look forward to proving you wrong”

Meanwhile actual canon:
I swear they don’t even read these books just make shit up
Gwyn had more time than Elain in the last book because she's not getting her own book much less bookS. And please be honest with yourselves for once, Azriel didn't give 2 fucks about Gwyn being in the blood rite his reaction/concern was for his friend and sister-in-law, Nesta. Anyone can compare his reaction to Elain being kidnapped and Gwyn being dropped into what was basically a battlefield. And see the clear difference in his reactions. That alone will tell you which woman is more valuable to him than his own life, than his wings.
Azriel only said, "there's a darkness to the dread trove that Elain should not be exposed to" once. That's it. Nothing about his opinion says that he doesn't care about what Elain wants. If your boss mentions his plan to send someone you love to a Iran or Lebanon for example, to collect information, you would have something to say about it even if it's the person's decision whether they want to go or not. That's just what truly loving someone brings out in you.
Sjm knows what she's doing and how she's been building elriel slowly since acomaf. Gwynriel is nothing but a misdirection set up only in the last book.
Are yall okay? Lol. It’s truly not this serious.
I recently read “The Ashen” series (unfinished) but it got me thinking about relationship dynamics.
The author Demi Winters writes much softer main characters than SJM — they spend a lot of their time fearful but strong through it, pushing through their fears with men not only protecting them, but trusting them, pushing them forward. And this is key in a healthy relationship, even in books.
Let’s take Tamlin for example. He was extremely protective of Feyre but was that what was best for her? Did he bring confidence to her? Did he make her stronger? Did he believe in her? No. Which is why he was NEVER the right choice. Hell even Lucien was like…. “We should probably teach Feyre how to use her powers….so she can defend herself” and Tamlin really said…lock her up instead.
We see this dynamic throughout all of her books, Rowan, Dorian, Hunt, Rhysand they ALL BELIEVE in their “mate”, or their partner for the story they’re telling because THATS SEXY. It’s SEXY to have a man who will kill for you, but also will let you kill them yourself, who believes in you, who supports you.
We see this with Cassian, Cassian is hard on Nesta because he KNOWS she can be better, she can be stronger, I mean that’s what he loves about her. HE loves to hate her attitude and her strength, he’s not afraid of her power, he LOVES IT, but he’s protective but enough to know she can handle herself as well and that’s sexy.
This is why Azriel and Elain are not the pair (I DONT BELIEVE) that will end up together. Every turn Azriel is afraid for Elain, he’s saying she can’t do things, that’s it’s a risk she shouldn’t be taking. And whether people want to admit it or not that’s DOUBT, that’s him not believing she’s strong enough and they ALL do it. Feyre, Azriel, Nesta etc. To be honest the only people that don’t underestimate Elain are Cassian,Rhysand and….Lucien.
Lucien isn’t upset when he sees her on the battle field, when he’s covered in gore. The first thing he says is basically “you killed the king of Hybern? That’s sick, are you okay?” LUCIEN is the one who goes after Vassa because ELAIN had a vision and he believed her. He had to right? If he didn’t why would he have gone?? He’s annoyed by Azriel’s advances but keeps it cool, he isn’t a brute like Cassian would have been. Lucien is thinking about his failings for HER, not her failings for him.
Now on the flip side we have Gwyn, a character some people like to minimize but she had more time in the last book then Elain or any of the other “main characters”. And what does Azriel think about Gwyn? How strong she is, admiration POURING from his face. When they’re thrown into the bloodrite it’s AZRIEL who says “we have to believe in them”. They challenge each other.
And as a romantasy girly THATS the biggest difference. We all want a man who will protect us, not shield us, not lock us away but stand with us through the hard times.
Period.

Happy 10th Anniversary for ACOMAF!! 🎊 🍾
And Happy 10th Anniversary to Elucien!! Let’s bring it home in the next ACOTAR book! 🥳
“Elain definitely has her own journey to go on as well. I think she's the character that I didn't really see coming—and that Lucien won't see coming, either. Her gentle strength, her hope, her joy.... What happened to her in Hybern will have major consequences (for Elain and everyone around her), and she has a long path ahead, but it's one I'm really excited about.”— Sarah J. Maas
My thoughts on The Immortal Man.
!! SPOILERS !!
I just watched all of peaky blinders with the conclusion being “The Immortal Man.”
It was fine, but nothing that I needed.
1.) I hated that they made Tommy kill Arthur. I understand Arthur’s actor was unable to participate in the film due to his own substance issues but the idea of Tommy murdering his own brother in a drunken rage really rubbed me the wrong way. Tommy LOVED his brothers, his sister, his children, Polly etc. that’s why as they all die it slowly chips away at him starting with the death of Grace and ending with the tragic death of his daughter Ruby.
2.) I don’t like that they didn’t really finish the N*zi plot. What happened to Mosley? What happened to Alfie? What happened? Seemed like a lot of unfinished business that he just abandoned. And further on that I actually liked that he had a tuberculoma. The “unkillable” man being killed by something so human, so unpreventable I thought was poetic.
3.) if they were going to kill him why not extend season 6 and I’m sorry but have him kill himself? Or have him die fighting N*zi’s? Tommy’s self loathing is quiet compared to Arthur’s but his PTSD is just as strong if not stronger. Or why not have him die in some big plan after he kills Michael in Canada?
4.) I think a better ending would have been him living as a gypsy, alone with his horses and his ghosts. That’s what he deserved a long life alone because he sacrificed his family for money. I don’t really like the “son killing the father” play.
Overall I didn’t really like it and much preferred the ambiguous ending in season 6 overall.
One of my favorite romantic scenes which I’m sure is many people’s and I’m definitely not alone in this is when Claire chooses Jamie after he brings her to the stones.
Jamie rescues Claire from her being tried as a witch, and she tells him the truth of her traveling through the stones. He takes her through the woods to the stones. Likely as a test; he even puts her hand on the stones, forcing her as she resists and she begins to disappear she can feel “chaos” reaching for her and Jamie is calling her name and she comes back — from the chaos to him. Even though Claire can feel frank, can see him, thinking of him as a small flicker of light. But there are two; one where Frank is and one where Jamie is.
And Jamie says “my lady, my..Claire. It’s no use waiting. I must part wi’ ye now.”
Claire’s reaction is clearly..uhh what the fuck?
Jamie goes on to tell her; that’s her time, her place, with Frank and she agrees (sort of). Then he shakes her and says “there’s nothing for ye on this side lass! Nothing save violence and danger go!” And he pushes her away from him.
She runs back to him and asks “is there really nothing for me here Jamie?”
He pushes her away again, gently without speaking and steps back from her. And she looks into his eyes filled with PAIN AND YEARNING as he steps away from her.
He tells her he will be down in the cabin until evening (not to tell her if she changes her mind, or to decide etc) but he says “I shall stay there until evening - to be sure that you’re safe.” To be sure that you’re safe.
He closes his eyes, turns away from her and simply says “Goodbye.” She calls after him and he’s described as bloodless, white faced and strained, fighting to control his face. She wants to tell him she loves him 100% and he knows it and instead he says;
“There’s no need, No. Do ye go lass. Ye shouldna tarry. Go.” She reaches for him basically begging him to listen to her and he says “Claire..no. I can’t.”
And then she basically tells him all of Scotland will fall and all the clans will be killed (because this is the perfect time for THAT lol).
Then she’s spends PAGES sitting at the stones, thinking about Frank, about the comforts of home, of her old life of civilization, of her husband and vows she left behind. She’s grappling with some heavy shit, I mean she’s got two husbands now and she loves them both. So she sits there basically all afternoon to nighttime and decides ya know what? Imma close my eyes and walk. She takes a few steps towards the stones, then tries it the other way, and before she even realizes she halfway down the hill SPRINTING (i mean my girl is slipping, falling, tumbling) to Jamie and finds him asleep with “silver tracks of dried tears glinting on his golden skin and the copper stubble of his beard” like 😫😫.
They have a very cute moment in the cottage still not a UTTER of the word love but it’s there and it’s so obvious it’s annoying at this point.
It ends with Jamie saying “I wish I could have fought him for you.” Claire smiles and says “it wasn’t your fight, it was mine. But you won anyway.”
LIKE HELLO? One of the most romantic scenes of FATE and FREE WILL and LOVE I’ve ever read and the word love is not uttered ONCE.
So all that to say; I’m all for a crying, suspenseful, rip your heart out Elain and Lucien book because if THAT doesn’t perfect describe them I don’t know what does.
