Lucien, Come on

Gifts?
I've touched on this in the past, but heres proof side by side.
So, everyone when talking about the bonus chapters, in terms of gifts, its that Azriel regifted the necklace (originally intended for Elain) to Gwyn.
But theres a parallel, with Elain and gifts, in the Feysand bonus chapter.
In Azriels Bonus Chapter, Elain returned the necklace he gave her. And yes, he went on to regift it to Gwyn, blah blah. Again, the regifting of the necklace is not the point. The fact that Elain returned it is.
Because why would she do that, if what she felt for him went beyond a simple crush? Why would she return it, if she still loved him so much, even though he said their almost kiss was a mistake?
Why would she go through the trouble return the necklace Azriel gave her, yet still keep every gift Lucien had given her, right back to, and including the jacket he used to cover her up, after she fell out of the Cauldron?
Now, yes, the jacket is an assumption. But two Solstices have gone by, two confirmed gifts from Lucien, and its confirmed that she keeps the gifts from Lucien, even if she ignores them.
If she loved Azriel, and hated Lucien, would it not be the other way around? Keep the necklace, despite the pain, and return/refuse the gloves and pearls?
SJM intentionally included this very subtle parallel between the two bonus chapters. Its not for nothing. Nothing is ever coincidental with these things in her books.
So why? Why did Elain return one, and keep the others?

Sarah is a Taylor Swift fan and loved the album and loved this absolute banger which became one of the most popular of the 24 songs. She posted this the SAME DAY the album was released. Only an idiot would believe that Sarah analyzed the lyrics of these songs the day they came out to give us a hint about her couples.

Nesta and Elain ending their journeys living at Feyre’s home surrounded by Feyre’s friends that will always side with Feyre over them is not a happily ever after for any of them be serious
I will always say that Feyre shipping Elain away from her sacred and rare mate bond and with someone she controls is a very bad thing for Elain.
Feyre started imagining Azriel and Elain together while Elain was still human and happily engaged to Graysen. When Elain and Azriel had been in the same room exactly one time and had had exactly one conversation. While, just to reiterate, Elain was engaged to be married the entire time. The level of disrespect and infantilization of her older sister this shows is pretty extreme. Can you imagine being engaged, making wedding plans, and then meeting your little sister’s friend only to find out she’s plotting to set you up with him?
Additionally, Graysen had done absolutely nothing at that point to indicate he was wrong for Elain! Feyre had never met him. In fact, Nesta told her he loved Elain deeply. Feyre just didn’t like Graysen’s *father.*
Pair that with the fact that she had just gotten the first version of Mor’s story and felt sad for Azriel that Mor likely wouldn’t ever return his affection. Every time she thinks about Azriel after that, she thinks about how sad it is that he loves Mor but that love will always be unrequited. She wanted him to be happy, and she wanted her sister away from her fiancé.
This was not honest well-wishes from Feyre. It was controlling and manipulative thinking. It was from that place that she questioned Elain’s mate bond to Lucien when it materialized. She had different plans for Elain and wanted to know why fate disagreed.
None of this is foreshadowing that Feyre should get what she wants. In fact, the opposite. And really both Elain and Azriel would be really insulted if they knew Feyre was thinking all this and *when* she was thinking it.
AND ANOTHER THING ! there’s a difference bw calling elain unexplored or straight up not liking her vs calling her boring or even worse useless like she can see the fucking future how is that boring ??? Even if she wishes she was human and rebels against her powers and herself, is that not interesting? please in her limited appearances she’s faced her fears and fought and been sneaky and selfish and stood up for herself and admitted wrongdoing and apologized AND made friends and been sweet and kind and loving and happy and sad and horny and then after a life of loss and neglect and trauma she dared to dream about having a garden and a home and someone to love how is that boring ???????
Elriel is not “obvious,” it just lacks any conflict, growth, or push/pull that SJM likes her couples to have. What’s obvious is that they aren’t endgame.
An obvious pairing would Elain and Lucien, who are canon mates in a fated mates series.
Nesta and Eris were taught all their lives to keep their inner flames under control, but once they are together on the same page, we can feel their chemistry growing like a wildfire. So, for Day 4, unleash your inner flame – open your favourite creative medium and forge your ideas! ✨

A smile appears on my face every time I remember how many times SJM talked about Elucien (imagining them on a modern date, explaining how she thought of them, that they would have a journey of tension, healing, and growth together, that they are happier in nature, etc.) and she never even mentioned Elriel in any of those questions.
I constantly see e*riels bring up the fact that Gwyn was carried during the Blood Rite to downplay her achievements and act like she's somehow less of a character. (Yea obviously they hate seeing women winning)
Yet I never see them mention that Rhysand was also carried during his Blood Rite.
So is Rhysand less of a character too, or does that standard only apply to Gwyn?
Atp they are this desperately aggressive and scrambing that they're okay with being blatant internalized misogyny. The fact that Gwyn has some of these people so threatened that they're willing to openly engage in it online is honestly embarrassing.
Like Gwyn the girl that you are
Gwynriel, Elriel, Elucien, Azris, and even Bryceriel all have some sort of canon evidence. Shippers have shared thoughtful and comprehensive arguments for all of these ships that can be easily found.
To call any of these ships “crackships” or say there’s “nothing in canon” to support the ships is disingenuous. Stop doing this if you want to have in-depth, critical conversations with other fans.
No romance is “forced love,” that is not a thing.
But so many of the most beloved romance tropes are some kind of version of “forced PROXIMITY.”
Fated mates
Marriage of convenience
Fake dating
Best friend’s sibling
Only one bed
Snowed in
Accidental pregnancy
The story is “stick two characters in an inescapable situation together and watch as they fall in love despite and because of it.” The whole POINT of the book is to watch what happens BECAUSE two people had to figure out a way of coexisting.
The set up is not the ending. But the set up is enjoyed by the audience. We like the tension. We like drama. We don’t want “they met, nothing happened, they fell in love, the end.”
Fated mates is just a magical “forced to work on a group project together and they must pass the class.” The love between mates is NEVER forced. It is always the thing that develops because the bond forces them into proximity. Mates always choose each other.
