ok so I was gone a lil bit longer than intended ..got sick Again in Jan for 3 weeks, getting a little tired of this ..practiced sobriety for 2 months. wish I could say I felt better / slept better / felt renewed & refreshed, etc etc but the truth is I did not particularly enjoy it. was an interesting experiment though ..QUINNESOTAAAAAAAAAAA ..have bought a truly horrifying amount of books in the last couple months. I am excited about so many of them. hopefully I will eventually read them. at the rate I've been reading it'll only take me like………. 75 years. going to create a 2026 reading list with assigned weekly books, see if having a rigid list solves anything. ..I wish I could talk more about TBC, there are so many parts I want to share. .."how long is wretchedly long???" well last time I checked we were at 135K and there's probably 50k left to go unless I trim it down any. (unlikely. joy of being self-published is no one can tell me to stfu.) so far we've been pretty even-stevens on POV breakdowns. picking POVs is sometimes the hardest part of writing this set. example a: the chapter I've spent the last four weeks on has changed POVs 6 times. I've rewritten it so many times it has its own "cuts" file separate from the main one. ..the news is horrific! evil people keep winning! keeping faith in humanity is getting a bit difficult these days, but if we give up on ourselves & each other then what else do we have to carry us through

nicky has a fuckton of ear piercings because when the twins moved in, he asked about andrew’s piercings. andrew, trying to make him uncomfortable, said he’d taught himself how to do them in juvie. nicky asked if andrew would pierce him without thinking, and after a brief pause andrew said he would, but he’d only touch his ears. nicky got his lobes pierced, but then the next time he wanted to connect to andrew he asked again. and again. and again. and andrew always said yes, sometimes at once and sometimes a day or two later. some of the piercings reject and andrew would expect nicky to get mad but he doesn’t, of course, doesn’t even make a fuss about it. for the rest of their lives they’re able to look at nicky’s ears as proof of what andrew means to him

Wymack deserves to know that after Baltimore, all the Foxes slept in the same room. That these nine utterly unsociable, abandoned outcasts, supposedly incapable of forming real connections and constantly accused of ruining team spirit. all, without a single word, decided to stay together, afraid to leave Neil alone. Realizing that, for the first time, they actually WANTED to be together. Wymack deserves to know that he managed to build a strong, loyal family out of people no one else ever believed in. Wymack deserves to know that his “I’m willing to give you twenty chances” was worth it.

the intimacy in the line “thank you. you were amazing” is actually insane. neil is so genuinely appreciative of everything andrew gave him. he never even considers asking for more because what could possibly be better than the keys? or the trust? or the honesty? or the kisses? and andrew, who’s been told his entire life that he isn’t enough, that he’ll never be enough, is being earnestly told that he’s amazing. not satisfactory, not capable of great things but wasting his potential, but amazing just the way he is. amazing—strict boundaries, unconventional methods, rough edges, off-putting personality, and all. neil josten, you really are a pipe dream. i, too, would’ve attacked kevin day if my situationship said such a thing to me immediately before getting kidnapped
