Like I don't think Hazbin/Helluva is completely void of having any issues and having bigoted views very much from the creators, but it's also so SO incredibly mild compared to most western adult animation? It's less racist/sexist/etc than The Simpsons, which has had a huge lasting impact globally. I get that Hazbin is currently one of the popular pieces of media and probably feels like it's everywhere, but I feel like some people really are putting it up on this uber evil pedestal, as though they haven't watched any other adult animation that's existed in the last 30+ years?

Like even compared to shows like Family Guy and American Dad, Hazbin and Helluva Boss are NOTHING. They can be cheesy and tasteless, and they definitely do have an issue with lack of body diversity and with appropriation and plenty of other problems, but despite what a lot of people seem to think, they aren't actually trying to be offensive? Like I don't understand why that's the general assumption about them because aside from the shitty pilots and characters who are MEANT to be assholes (like Vox, Blitz, Katie Killjoy, Adam, etc), the shows don't really lean on offensive humor at all. Dirty jokes and shock humor, yes, but they're generally not dropping slurs or dedicating whole plotlines to people pretending to be trans like other adult shows do.

And obviously the bar is in fucking hell here (pun intended) but people are really acting like they're the most evil and disgusting shows in existence compared to their pure and perfect adult shows like South Park, which includes episodes with plotlines like. . . Eric pretending to be mentally disabled so that they could drop the r slur over and over and the whole thing with Garrison, along with the nonstop horrific antisemitism and general bigotry. Like I cannot emphasize enough how awful South Park actually is and that I truly believe anyone who sincerely compares Hazbin to it either hasn't watched South Park in years or they know they're talking out of their ass but they care more about the shock value of the comparison than on being accurate.

to anyone in the areas impacted by the wildfire smoke, my #1 biggest piece of advice as someone whos been dealing with wildfire smoke in the NW united states for years, is build yourself a Corsi-Rosenthal Cube

they perform as well as expensive HEPA air cleaners, and are comparatively VERY inexpensive. all you need is a box fan, 4 air filters, a piece of cardboard, and some duct tape!!!!

i think it took us maybe a half hour to put ours together, if that, and we replace the filters every 3 months. it's really made a HUGE difference, both when the air quality is bad, but also with our allergies

i'll never say this publicly but honestly i think tigerstar had some valid ideas about having one big clan. obviously he was super wrong with all the violence and force, but one big clan could solve a lot of issues. No more border patrol fighting, more food for everyone during leaf-bare season, no drama involving cross-clan mates, etc etc. a lot of deaths could be avoided if we all took care of one another instead of fighting all the time

Honestly I don't know how I feel about this... each Clan is beautifully unique and has their own traditions, which would fade away if Clans were desolved altogether. But OP makes a valid point about less violence and food scarcity. I hate the idea of sending my kits off to become Warriors, only for them to die during a stupid argument about Sunningrocks. A pile of rocks is NEVER worth a cat's life, whether they are in your Clan or not. And we have lost lives like that before.

I agree! Traditions are important, but every medicine cat knows that working together saves lives. Sharing herbs can stop the spread of greencough, and sharing prey stops kits from crying from hunger. We really need a better system, because I can't cry myself to sleep another night, blaming myself for not having enough cobwebs to stop a kit from bleeding out in front of me.

Gotta tell you guys something wild in the Chinese fan sphere

So some fanartist drew a “sexy” (read: booby) version of a (cartoon) character who is traditionally very non-sexualised. Fans of the character got mad about it because it’s kind of groundbreaking how that character is written and portrayed and this art totally ignores the entire point of the character. They demanded the art be deleted. In response to that other people said, well what the fanartist did may be distateful but they have every right to draw what they’re into. The two sides fight for days and each starts a harassment campaign and even report their “opponents’” accounts.

So far so typical. But things eventually come to a head and they decide that this will be settled by votes - not through a poll. Through donations to a children’s education charity via each side’s portal. Whoever can get the highest amount of donation wins.

And that is how this charity received over 1 million in donations in three days lol. Oh btw the “freedom of expression” side won by a landslide (960k to 40k)
