'Everyone sees James Potter, I see James' by Lily Evans
Jealous Lily when she has not yet accepted her feelings for James.
She's so angry because everyone is always staring at James, fluttering around him, laughing at his jokes. He's on everyone's lips, like a superstar and she's so pissed because she's starting to GET IT and she doesn't want to.
Because she knows James is hot but he's also pretty, his smile is beautiful and his voice mesmerizing, his laugh is loud but contagious and he's been acting differently lately, he's still an idiot but at the same time he's... Gentle. Of course everyone is in love with him. Prick. Fucking attractive prick.
She's sick of watching people touching him, hugging him, dancing with him in parties, even kissing him in the cheek. It's infuriating. Why he has to be THE James Potter? And, above all, why SHE, who saw his weak points, was also attracted to the strong ones?
It was obvious that everyone was going to be at his feet, because they only saw how cool, strong, flattering and funny James Potter was. But did they also see his arrogance? His wicked intelligence? Did they see his ability to scheme and get away with it?
Would all those people who idolize James Potter do so if, like her, they knew what his faults were?
Because if they did it, it meant they really understood him, and Lily was sure that all those people infatuated with James didn't really understand him.
Or maybe she didn't want them to understand.
Maybe she wanted to be the only one who saw beyond the magnificent James Potter. The only one who would look at him and really see him. The only one who would only laugh if his jokes were funny and not to fatten his ego, the only one who would hug him after a Quidditch match because she knew how hard he worked to not lose his pride, the only one who would kiss him on the cheek and dance with him at parties because beyond the pedestal, she knew that James was just another person, with worldly desires.
Maybe she was fed up with James Potter being THE boy and THE person at Hogwarts, because she only wanted to be around James, who was just a boy and another person at Hogwarts, with his qualities and flaws. She didn't want the glare around him, she wanted his core, his truth.
Lily Evans was furious and so fucking jealous, but not because of the people around James Potter, but because of everything that James was and she couldn't have, because she kept telling herself over and over that she didn't want to have him.
