Write it shitty, write it scared, write it without a clue but don't you be so spineless and have an AI write fanfic for you.
6.1 Archon quest spoilers
The new Dain (and sinners) lore kills me. Cause like, when the sinners were first introduced as a concept, he basically implied they were a team. A squad planning to overthrow the despot king and save Khaenri'ah. That they were then corrupted and failed.
But this quest reveals that most of them barely knew each other. They all just knew Dain! They didn't even come to fight for noble reasons, Dain wanted to save his brother, and they went along with it (we technically learned this via the x box wings, but still).
We have Surtalogi, Dain's childhood friend/knight training buddy, who only knew Dain and Ved (the latter just being his best friend's brother). Rerir, also just Dain's friend, barely knows Vedrfolnir, has not met any of the others.
We have a little less on all the Rhine and Hroptatyr relationships, but they also seem to barely know any of the others, other than Dain (and maybe Ved? Probably, but ambiguous).
The great scary sinners of Khaenri'ah, are just a bunch of Dainsleif's friends who let him drag them out in the middle of the night and convince to commit treason with him 😭.
Maybe Rhine and Hroptatyr are more Vedrfolnir's friends, and thats why they ended up agreeing to save him. But honestly, how they were acting didn't give that vibe. It genuinely seems they only ended up agreeing because it was Dain asking. I'd like to imagine after the scene cut (before the sudden cut to them committing treason after Hroptatyr was like, I dont want to though) Dain gave them puppy eyes until they cracked.
But yeah, it's just hilarious to me that Dain casually had some of the most powerful people in Khaenri'ah in his pocket, who would follow him to commit treason with a bunch of other people they only know via their fame (or vaguely through Dain and maybe Ved). They just trust Dain that much. Wild revelation. Dain casually the fulcrum of the Sinners.
Do you think all the sinners treat Dainslief like their friends weird younger sibling cause they are all sorta friends with vedrfolnir
Like when they are together in a room doing sinner thing (procrastinating on doing their work) do you think they all just turn and say “hi Dainslief” instead of his proper title when he walks in
Is Rhinedottir bringing up embrassing things Dainslief did in his youth that vedrfolnir told her about. Is she deciding to join in on the classic sibling teasing only to be told off by vedrfolnir because that’s his thing.
This would totally be extra awkward because surtalogi used to be friends with him and his now hearing about how he thought butter was made by heating up cheese.
Is Dainslief having to watch his step when walking around their shared place causes rerir might be sleeping on the floor. Is he starting to get to the point he wants to charge the other sinners rent because “your stupid friend eat all the food, use all the water, and treat this place like a hotel. Might as well charge them like they are in one”
Is hroptatyr randomly bringing up things to Dainslief that he from Vedrfolnir about it, like “how’s the job promotion” or “has that rash gone away yet”. All while he doesn’t even look up from reading the news paper
Speaking of which I can definitely see a case where vedrfolnir throws something at Dainslief and tells him to get out his room. Or Dainslief just coming up to his brother to bother him and leave. Because they are siblings therefore not immune to sibling things
I just want more five sinners and Dainslief interacting in a non hostile way
Idk I need more backstories on the rest of the sinners before I make a solid judgement, but so far from surtalogi and vedrfolnir’s backstories,,,,, they’re kinda valid in not wanting to help khaenriah. Like surtalogi was abused and mutilated by his teacher and vedrfolnir was blinded and imprisoned by king irmin for making a prophecy he didn’t like.
Lowkey if I was tortured and became disfigured and disabled by people of power in my country,,, tbh I wouldn’t want to save them either.
And okay, I’m definitely not saying that the common people deserved to be cursed or killed, because I don’t, and I think the sinners could’ve saved them, but taking into account their pov (assuming the rest of their backstories are like surtalogi and vedrfolnir) I can absolutely see why they didn’t help.
The fact that Rerir's heart gets stolen by Flins is extremely funny to me. Imagine being one of the Sinners of Khaenri'ah a god tier monstrosity that has dodged responsibility for the shit you pulled to your own people and getting your shit stolen because it's a shiny looking rock to most people.
An autistic Magpie just stole your HEART but literally. I cannot take this fucker seriously, no matter what he does he got his shit stolen by the Fae equivalent of a fanon Blood Raven.
Имя Марго - означает "Жемчуг". По-моему в отношении неё звучит очень поэтично и лишь ещё раз доказывает то насколько она была особенной и драгоценной для Разумовского.
now some oc writers are using the “x reader” tag and giving the excuse that “it’s just a different perspective.” it doesn’t matter if you use that tag IF YOU’RE NOT INCLUDING THE READER! YOU have your own tag, leave us alone.
the “x reader” tag exists so that readers of any background, appearance, or identity can immerse themselves in a story and feel included as the main character.
when you write a story centered around your own original character, with a defined name, personality, and often a specific appearance, you’re no longer inviting the reader to step into that role, you’re writing about your character, not the reader. that’s completely fine! writing oc content is valid and has its own space.
but misusing the “x reader” tag to gain visibility or clicks is misleading. it sets the wrong expectations and excludes readers who were looking for stories where they could truly see themselves in the narrative. if your story focuses on your oc, label it honestly.
use the “oc x canon” tag or “original character” there’s no shame in that. but please stop co-opting a space that’s meant to be inclusive and flexible for all readers, especially those who are often underrepresented in fiction. the “x reader” tag is not a blank slate for oc projection.
it’s meant to include everyone, not just your creative vision.
respect your audience. tag responsibly.
I think what a lot of people fail to realize is that WE ARE the player we're not p.w nor a yellow Mannequin., but we are OURSELVES. WE are the employee thats why we are referred to as "they." The game doesn't know our gender.. Poppy playtime is basically just a self insert game.
I'm sorry I have to get this out bc it just bugs me
I will say this until proven wrong, but I am 99% sure we are the player
i think the worst thing for the kids alongside getting experimented on and then losing their mobility, emotional and mental intelligence and then expected to just work, is that they aren't seen as alive by workers and scientists alike.
the cargo hold full of holding cells of children, literal children, crying for whoever they somehow remember, or even just nonsensical noises because they lost their ability to process any vocals, and the workers are just "fuck they've started up again, I thought we were going a have quiet one".
they are literally making them work for RATIONS. not even enough food, and if we are counting the fact the Doey is three children at different ages, thats not going to work if he has three times the appetite. not to mention they force those who are rightfully not able to do anything or just cant even process their lives now with the threat of starvation.
Riley even suffered from an obvious case of a phantom limb, she can still feel her fingers but she cant separate them, yet somehow she still had the ability to at least write which is likely the only thing that connected her to humanity still.
i cant imagine how many kids and adults had to live through confusion once waking up in a new body they didn't recognise, lifting a heavy head and focusing on a hand that's not theirs. being spoken to and about as a number or a name that's not theirs, not even looked as an equal but as a tool.
i can't imagine how it felt waking up and hearing two other boys echoing in your own head and not understanding where your doey toy is, or why you can hear your mummy calling for you but you can't speak to say you are there.
I can't imagine being stuck in the same place behind a glass case, something that was meant to keep you safe in conception but a prison in hindsight, unable to do anything but hearing everything. knowing what is happening but you cant do anything to stop it.
i can't imagine how you were placed on higher regard by someone high above who simply saw you as nothing but a pet, interfering with your abilities and slowly isolating you to the point this person was your world, the only thing that could give you any form of connection now, and then suddenly, he's not there any more. you can hear him calling for you, but you cant find him. you cant reach him. he is no longer in the same office you remember. his voice was still there but physically? you are alone.
these were children. they are still children.
can I just autism at y'all incoherently for a bit. Aite.
I think Harley becomes a bit easier to understand as a character when viewed as a story of generational trauma. When analysing a monster, one has to ask "what could have prevented this?" In Harley's case, it was just... if he had not been so steadily drawn to one conclusion: that there was something fundamental that separated him from humanity.
What are people to someone who was never a person to anyone? He was kept half-alive only to use him, and even before he had done anything wrong, he was never a person to anyone - he existed in others' minds only as what he could supply to them.
The ARG note, "HE TOOK EVERYTHING. I THOUGHT YOU CARED." combined with his boss fight dialogue, "It was supposed to be mine! My recognition!" draws the connection that after sending a young Harley Sawyer away, Elliott took the research Harley had done with him and claimed credit for his discoveries.
Imagine for a moment that you have never been loved. Not by parents or peers or superiors. That they all showered you in praise of your objective talents, but wanted nothing to do with you in any other respect. At every turn, they attempted to find a way to divert your abilities toward their own goals. Others have always blabbered on about connection and harmony - concepts that simply do not exist to you, for you have never experienced them.
You thought you had experienced them. Once. You almost thought you'd found a father. Before he sent you away penniless and took all of your work as his own. Now you know it for certain: connection really isn't real, and everyone else is lying or faking. The only people who have ever pretended to care about you were lying. You may as well be the only person in the world, because you are completely alone on Earth.
Imagine that you believe that love and happiness are truly false lights. Pipe dreams. Would you be able to empathise, see yourself in your fellow man, see your fellow man as a person?
You don't know what it's like to be thought of as a person. So you haven't the slightest idea how one would go about thinking of others as people.
I still will not budge on the fact that Harley genuinely thought he was doing the right thing. But again, if morals are alien to you because you have never been exposed to them, then your 'right thing' looks deeply different to others'.
There are certain lessons that cannot be learned through just the acquisition of information. Harley was never taught any lessons that were not objective - empathy, morals, emotional control. As much as he could be familiar with ethics, he could not understand anything that can't be understood with logic.
All monsters grow from children.
He saw himself as their father. Their mentor. Their saviour. He made them just like him - the only human in the world.
After seeing the chapter 4 of Poppy Playtime as well as the notes from the ARG, I want to talk about one thing I haven't really seen be talked about much: Harley Sawyer is a cautionary tale about not leaving troubled children behind. When Harley was accepted into the Young Geniuses Program, he was described as very driven and having an outstanding intellect. It's clear that science and experiments are his greatest passion, the main thing that brings him joy, and that he values progress above all else. However, he also displays some concerning qualities, mainly: - a lack of interest in forming friendships - not missing home - being serious all the time, to the point of rarely ever smiling and not caring about fun activities - being very prideful - not caring if the progress he achieves will be for the betterment of humanity
When Elliot tries to convince him, that all progress should be for the sake of helping others, Harley gets angry, stating that progress doesn't care how people feel about it. Despite this, Harley still looks up to Ludwig and seemingly views him as the only one that understands and cares about him. So what does Elliot do as the main role model to a brilliant child who shows potentially antisocial qualities and feels alone in the world?(Although we don't know how much he knew about the last part.) He evicts him from the program, telling him to make some friends and get a new perspective. Here we see, that for a person who cares so deeply about children, Ludwig sure as hell doesn't understand child psychology. Everybody knows, that when you anger a child and then tell them to do something, they aren't going to listen unless you make sure of they do. Additionally, Elliot talks about how "bouncing back from rejection and hardship through connection" was what helped him, but he totally ignores the fact that Harley doesn't understand the point of making friends and likely doesn't have any back home (or ones that he would miss anyway), and kicking him out of a prestigious program for bad behavior is sure to make it harder for him to form connections. Children can be cruel and Harley was almost bound to have been unpopular before due to his attitude, so this definitely wouldn't help. Besides, Harley's smart and was sure to have known that the program would have made it easier for him to get both a good education and a good job, being evicted however was sure to raise some eyebrows on interviews. All Ludwig did, was take Harley's dream situation away from him and crush all respect the boy had for him, leaving him bitter and resentful. My best guess for why he did this, is that he mistook Harley's intelligence and seriousness as emotional maturity, when in reality he was quite prone to anger and outbursts, leading him to completely miscalculate how he would react to his letter. It's rather obvious, that instead of giving up on Harley after he refused to change his motivation, Elliot should have stayed and guided him in a positive direction. Progress for the sake of progress isn't necessarily a bad thing, as long as it doesn't hurt anybody and that strong motivation of his could have been easily used to push him to be better. Ludwig could've taught him the value of respecting others and teamwork during scientific studies, with best results achieved thanks to different specialties, points of view and ideas cooperating. That proving that something can help humanity helps with garnering support and funding for research. That connections with others can help you during burnout, bad mental health, bad financial situations and even with becoming a better, more capable person. The Doctor we met in the fourth chapter likely could've been prevented, if Ludwig was willing to put in the effort to help Harley, when he was still young and impressionable. Of course I'm not saying that he's to blame for all the horrendous things Harley did later in life, by then he was an adult who knew better, but that this was one of his many failures which unintentionally led to a creation of a horrible cycle of violence we see all over Playtime Co. The lesson here, is that as a caretaker you can't just get rid of a child when they show signs of trouble and hope that they will magically turn out fine as an adult with just a few vague instructions. It's important to step up and be the positive influence they need in life, because it might just save others so much pain in the future.
The real barbie is Y/n.
Y/n’s a doctor, a cop, a scientist, an agent, vet, hero, villain, astronaut, lawyer, spy, criminal, artist, chef, engineer, psychologist, architect, journalist, firefighter, event planner, mechanic, photographer, musician, actor, interior designer, bartender, fashion designer, barista, florist, forensic scientist, flight attendant, profiler, tour guide, translator, etc.
I'm so confused about all the people that have been insulting targaryen!readers and ocs as "boring" lately.
You expect me to believe that a reader/oc that has a fucked up family and can ride a dragon is somehow uninteresting...? This is a big fandom. There's room for everyone to write what they want. There's no reason for some people to be so judgemental. Fic writers are providing us with free content about our favorite characters. They are taking time out of their day to write us stories. You aren't expected to like every fic. This entitlement in fandom is ridiculous. Fanfiction writers owe you nothing. If you don't like what they write then that's your problem not theirs.
Most of these characters have hundreds of fics written for them, there is no point in dwelling on the fics you don't like. The Aemond/ofc tag on ao3 has over 2000 fics, the Aemond/reader tag has over 1000 fics, but yet I'll still see people whining in the fanfiction tags on tumblr about how a writer dared to write a reader/oc or plot they personally didn't like. Again, you are reading free content, we don't need to hear your criticisms. Not liking a fic is not some crisis we need to urgently address. You can keep your thoughts to yourself and move on to something else. My rant is over. Be kind to fic writers. Life would be miserable without them.
