I'm currently in the middle of fighting the Demon That Takes Your Writing Away so don't expect any kind of consistency vis a vis my writing, but know that I'm gently encouraging the little hamster that runs my brain as much as I can ^-^

I also think it's important to mention that as a trans girl, I see a lot of other white trans girls appropriating asian culture because they associate it with femininity, which genuinely pmo as a wasian girl (i am more white than asian and am very white passing, so I can't fully provide input on this). This definitely ties into the larger point of the video, bcs I have not seen other people call out these issues and they are usually ignored, and when they are brought up people are just blatantly ignorant ("if i can't see it it doesn't exist"). even i don't feel like I've noticed the issue this person is talking about, but I am not in transmasc spaces so of course I wouldn't see it. I doubt this person has noticed transfem asian appropriation, but I have since I am in largely transfem spaces. but either way, this problem definitely exists in both spaces, and it definitely still needs to be addressed.
I saw a very useful video about this similar phenomenon even in cis white people. They said in the video white men emulate black men because they think it's more "masculine," and and white women emulate east asian women because they perceive them as "more feminine/cute/etc."
This ALSO ties into white trans men and nonbinary emulating east asian men because they perceive east asian maleness as a "more feminine" version of masculinity and therefore "more achievable/idealized."
i have my own gripes with this in regards to how other white trans men fetishize east asian men and how they might write erotic RPF or fanart, which in a vacuum might be whatever, but there's this undercurrent of "being east asian (or appearing east asian) is an automatic pass for me to fetishize you and make objectifying comments about you" which i personally have experienced firsthand and. aaauuuughghhhh i wish ppl would be more Aware of how their tastes in RPF or whatever (fantasies about celebrities who might never see it) affects how they interact with REAL PEOPLE they might actually talk to FACE-TO-FACE??? especially when it's rooted in racism like this
the perception of blackness as "more masculine" and east asians as "more feminine" is absolutely unacceptable and we should address it more.
my mom just came to me and ranted about how everyone is making this facebook status that says, “raising teenagers is like nailing jello to a tree”. she was so baffled by this because she said, “you were pretty easy to raise as teenagers. all you did was sleep and eat.”

also love how the original metaphor of “nailing jello to a tree” is about trying to force your bizarre and arbitrary will on something that is categorically disinclined to do such a thing, for no conceivable reason.
I need everyone to start talking about the Miura Ayme situation right now
If you don’t already know, theres been some allegations regarding him meeting up with an underaged fan and trying to kiss/engage in sexual acts with them. If you want more on the situation, theres a doc and this video too with proof. I’ve heard this has been repeatedly brought up before but has been kind of drowned out everytime it’s mentioned. I only heard about the situation a few days ago, and I think claims as serious as this—alleged or not, need to be paid attention to.
I’ve heard people have commented about it on his socials, but he’s ended up deleting any comments similar to how he deletes comments regarding his AI usage, and I think he’s recently gone private on twitter because of some fans calling it out. all in all this situation is really gross, and im making this post so that more people in the fandom know & we can at the very least ATTEMPT to push for a statement.
I’m not sure what else to say, but I do want to mention that I don’t think you guys should immediately jump to “oh this isn’t true!” And “Ayme would never do this!”
These are serious allegations that shouldn’t be immediately shrugged off just bc u like the voice actor/the game hes involved with. A lot of the times victims do not speak out because of things like that. so I want everyone to be mindful when it comes to this. dont baby ayme hes an adult he has the ability to use his words and say something.
this is also not the situation to be like “oh, why would they do this?” Or “why would they do that? This must be fake!” the goal of this is to push for a statement not to victim blame

After seeing news of these allegations on tiktok I knew I needed to check tumblr for more about this situation. I’m choosing to repost this because my blog is NOT a safe space for anyone who is going to defend someone who has allegations such as these. Personally, I love the character of Asmodeus, and Ayme for a long time since starting g the game as a 13 year old. However, I choose to believe victims because I hope that they truly would not lie about such an horrific experience. It is also simply idiotic to ignore the amount of evidence the victim has against Ayme.
To be clear once more, I DO NOT support Ayme and will not unless there is clear evidence that clears his name. I will also not be supporting the Obey Me team until there is a statement on this situation depending on what is said. As much as I love the games and characters they’ve created, I will not support a team that supports the actions that Ayme Miura has taken.

your most recent short about jax and angel was in very poor taste, it isn't your place to decide what is and isn't good representation, and everything can't be made with "the optics" and the current dystopian political climate in mind.
people are being transmisogynistic in that short's comments in between trans people and especially trans women giving you their experiences and expressing disapproval with your take, and it seems like you just said what you had to say and shrugged it off.
seeing such an ill-informed take from you (only having one trans woman's perspective who just so happens to agree with you wholeheartedly isn't good enough) with any critical feedback being immediately dismissed was frustrating and i just felt the need to say *something* about it before i stop engaging with your content.
days upon days of dedicated research to advocate against misogyny and misogyny in fandom, but the second it's specifically transmisogyny suddenly we're talking about optics and "storytelling" and "narrative satisfaction" and "harm done and hostility to women" when the perpetrator of that harm is ALSO a woman...just not the right "kind" of woman.
you sound like the people who were "just having honest and objective critique" about things like the little mermaid 2023 or ghostbusters 2016 or indeed nolan's odyssey, "just making statements about the art" while subtly implying what you find distasteful about it.
it's not a good look. i sincerely hope you look inwards or at the very least look at some of those comments and reflect.
People have been upset about my take that Jax's story is not, in my mind, a very good representation of a trans story. Even a worst-case scenario trans story. I simply do not believe it was well done; not enough time was dedicated to it, or to developing it, and that shallowness made her "redemption arc" feel undeserved, and more time was needed, ESPECIALLY when given Jax's behavior towards the other women in the cast, when there is a stereotype that trans women are violent towards cis women.
I understand Gooseworx is trans, and she has a right to tell her story; in fact, I very much respect her for telling a worst-case scenario of her own story so publicly. That takes bravery and self-understanding many people never achieve. I think Gooseworx deserves acclaim for that alone
But, at the same time, we live in an environment where trans people are being systematically murdered by laws that take away their rights to healthcare, protection, even driving. Optics do matter right now.
The issue to me is not that Jax is a bad person; it's all in the execution of the story. If a little more time was dedicated to real nuance, if we saw just a bit more behind the mask of Jax from the VERY START instead of the most important parts being stuffed into monologues in the final episode. If we saw Jax face her demons PERSONALLY rather than Pomni, then I would have very different feelings on this.
I feel like this is a VALUABLE story on paper, but it simply was not presented well. People can connect to it; they can cherish it, but from my perspective, as a media analyst, I think it fumbled in very important places. Poor storytelling = poor representation of a trans story in my eyes
However, the entire reason this conversation started was that I posted a video specifically on transmisogyny in fandom and how Jax as a character becomes an unheard-of example to examine it.
Regardless of my personal feelings on Jax's story, fandom hates women, and fandom hates trans people. Jax is both. Not only that, though, but we also get to watch a fandom DISCOVER their favorite cis male asshole twink was actually an asshole trans woman the entire time, and the fallout has been UGLY. People going on blatantly misogynistic and transphobic tirades. Removing all grace from their engagement with this character and with Digital Circus as a whole for having a trans character is very, very real. I've seen people use Jax as an excuse to be blatantly transphobic and misogynistic in VIOLENT WAYS towards Gooseworx. That is unacceptable and completely separate from my feelings on Jax's story
The entire reason I brought this up was that I wanted to include a segment in the Millie video on Jax and the opportunity she presents to see, in real time, how fandom truly feels about trans people and women. Because the answer is: Horrifically. There is nuance in the execution of this story, but that can't explain the outright hostility shown by the fandom.

What does it matter what "kind" of woman is doing the harm? Harm towards women is not suddenly okay because a woman is doing it. I don't think Gooseworx intended any harm towards other trans women, and I don't think she is by any means doing MORE harm than those legislators literally murdering trans people. But it is disappointing to see a trans story that had a lot of potential be fumbled at the finish line. That's all there is to it
