Hello fellow writers! I’m a 23 year old, in the eastern time zone, who’s been writing for about three years now! I consider myself fairly literate, regularly going above and beyond the Discord character limit, averaging about a reply per day. I’m looking for one (18+) partner to join me in writing a wide-ranging historical epic, set in late medieval Europe.
I’ll share, below, my central idea for this roleplay, where I would be willing to write as either role!
The year is 1569. The Crown of Poland and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania teeter over a precipice. The King, Sigismund II Augustus, enters now the twenty-first year of his reign, his third bride by his side. Save for his son, Prince Casimir Jagiellion, there are no legitimate sons of his dynasty who might inherit the throne — the result of which would certainly be either the collapse of his joined kingdoms into an anarchic war which would destroy centuries of dynastic consolidation, or the falling of Polish and Lithuanian lands into the hands of foreigners, Swedes or Russians, most likely.
Of course, there is very little worry on the part of the nobles of the land, those magnates who reign near supreme in their little fiefs, or the clergy who hold such dominion over law and faith, for Prince Casimir, in every aspect of his being, is as perfect a prince and heir as could be imagined. Eighteen years of age, he has been raised from birth to succeed to his father’s throne, given training in lance and sword, bow and firearm, to such a degree as he is the envy of any knight or cossack or man-at-arms. He is possessed of a sharp mind, likewise — well versed in all matter theological, whether such a dispute arises in those Karaite communities, those of the Armenian Church, and even in his own Catholic faith, and in all manner military, outmaneuversing and outcommanding even those generals and loyal men who served in true battle, in simulated games of war — and a charming charisma that makes him many friends.
Beyond that, he finds any such interaction with those he is bound to marry, to pass easily as well; he might well be considered a flirt, though with such good looks as a face that could, under other circumstances, pass for that of a woman, short cropped blonde hair, and perceptive blue eyes, words are seemingly unnecessary — not that those women, daughters of magnates, whom he offers kisses to beneath cherry trees, mind either way.
And, naturally, such a man as this has another by his side, not his father, who was consumed with his present illness and that business of the states he ruled, but by the loyal guard and priest, Biernatos, who, since pledging his life to the prince on the day he was born, that selfsame day which saw his mother die bringing him into the world — the same mother for whom the priest’s affection had long been recorded — had been his guide in all matters, spiritual, and personal.
Of course, though seemingly idyllic, there was one flaw in those whole realm, something rotten in the Kingdom of Poland-Lithuania; Prince Casimir, unbeknownst to all but his father, was in fact Katharina, a girl. But, consumed by his desire for a male heir, unwilling to let his beloved Queen, Barabara’s death be in vain, and desperate to secure his political position, he passed the girl off as a son, and thereafter raised him as such, keeping the secret from all, save the silent maids who attended to her, in her childhood, and thereafter thrust her into maturity much too early.
Now, as Casimir’s presence in the kingdom grows, as he comes further into his rightful place as heir, with Biernatos by his side, the lies, the deceit, all threaten to come crumbling down.
And to bring the Kingdom crashing down with them.
Now that you’ve hopefully gotten through that lengthy and hopelessly self-indulgent setting, I’ll dive much deeper into who I am as a writer, and what I look for in a partner! Obviously, enthusiasm and interest are paramount, but aside from that, most of what I’ll ask about is included below, and I’d love to see a reply to the various topics in your initial message reaching out to me, alongside a writing sample, thanks, and hope to see your message!
Writing Speed and Length: I tend to write in the range of 2.5 - 4k characters per reply, but with the right partner, can exceed 5-6k. I tend to do about a reply per day, sometimes more, sometimes less, but usually on average around once a day. I’m fine with slower paces as well.
NSFW content: I tend to prefer to write this content out when it occurs, if and only if, it adds to the development of the characters, and its been earned in the story. I do not write anything unnecessary or gratuitous — i.e., we wouldn’t need each encounter of an established relationship, and I would be content fading to black in cases such as that — and am totally fine avoiding all of the directly intimate content.
Faceclaims: I tend to prefer using ones from movies, television, or pinterest boards/vintage photographs/art. I can work, failing that, with descriptions, or, if you’re an artist yourself, I’d be totally accepting of you using your own work.
Boundaries: I do enjoy exploring the darker parts of the human psyche, which can extend to darker themes. I feel it’s important to understand what topics and themes my partners don’t want to touch, so we don’t even accidentally write about them.
