Imagine a scene where Az finds all of the children Gwyn saved in Sangravah. Then they visit them. The children are happy and playing while Gwyn and Az are watching them. This is his way to show her she didn't fail anyone, and all of those children are alive because of her.
I'll genuinely cry if he takes her Invoking Stone and places it on her head.
I had this vision of Azriel breaking through his habit of idealization represented through a painting. The painting symbolizing his history of limerence and rendering women as untouchable ideals.
On the other end of this painting is Gwyn. She is the muse that finally reached back. She isn’t just paint and canvas, or the ideals his scarred hands shouldn’t taint. She faces all of him, and in doing so, breaks that barrier of idealism when he least expects it.
She meets him with fingers outstretched toward his shadowed and scarred hand. His shadows are present and curious, greeted with a smile.
I read a quote in a book the other day that perfectly described finding beauty in the unexpected: 𝘗𝘦𝘳𝘩𝘢𝘱𝘴 𝘢 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘢𝘶𝘵𝘺 𝘪𝘴 𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘦, 𝘩𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬𝘴: 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭 𝘣𝘦𝘢𝘶𝘵𝘺 𝘮𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘴𝘦𝘦𝘮 𝘢𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘪𝘵 𝘩𝘢𝘴 𝘧𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘯 𝘢𝘣𝘳𝘶𝘱𝘵𝘭𝘺 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘬𝘺.. 𝘰𝘳 𝘦𝘭𝘴𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘥𝘦𝘦𝘱 𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘩-𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘪𝘵 𝘩𝘢𝘥 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘴𝘦𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘵𝘭𝘺 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘶𝘯𝘴𝘦𝘦𝘯, 𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘭 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘤𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘢𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘢𝘸 𝘪𝘵.
It reminded me so much of the last line in Azriel’s bonus chapter where he describes the image of Gwyn as a thing of secret, lovely beauty. We can find beauty anywhere, but it is those moments that interrupt expectation and arrive unannounced that linger deep in the chest.
honestly Gwyn hate is so pointless, like she's done nothing wrong at all, but you all choose to be haters when you could be a simp and daydream about her.
I was gone for months and now there are so many new Gwynriel and Elucien users. I can't recognise some of my mutuals because they've changed their names and profile pictures. 😭
TROPES HAVE LANDED PEOPLE. TROPES HAVE LANDED. Book 6 and Book 7. Fated Mates on both books, and no Forbidden Love. We win. 🤭🥰 My guess would have to be 6 started with Gwynriel, and book 7 continues with Elucien.
"The characters have like have that spark initially that's almost beyond me [...]".
-SJM, Call Her Daddy interview.
"But even as shame washed through him, the words, the sense chanted, Mine. You are mine, and I am yours. Mate.
Her eyes were the brown of a fawn's coat. And he could have sworn something sparked in them as she met his gaze."
-A Court of Wings and Ruin, page. 250.
"Something sparked in Azriel's chest, but he only nodded his thanks and left. He could picture it, though, as he ascended the stairs back to the House proper. How Gwyn's teal eyes might light upon seeing the necklace. For whatever reason... he could see it."
-A Court of Silver Flames, Azriel's bonus chapter.
What's funny about Gwyn asking "do you sing" during the bonus chapter is that I have this feeling that she's been WANTING to ask him that for a while. I just know it's been on her mind.

One of our favorite chapters coming to life, showcasing the three working together to overcome the obstacles course and wiping Cassian and Azriel’s smug faces. But most importantly, it proves that they can overcome anything together, which is truly put to the test later in the book, and we can’t see what else SJM has planned for the Valkyrie in the future.
