Cats are fun because they pretty much treat any new cat you introduce into their space as an Intruder and Potential Threat.
Which yeah, solitary species, territorial, I get it. Heck, I'm a member of a highly social species and I'd also probably freak out if there was just Some Guy in my house one day.
But like, adult cats will also react this way to fucking kittens.
Your average adult cat treats the introduction of a new kitten to the household like the hero of a Spaghetti Western treats a Stranger In Town who suddenly wanders into the town saloon. Except the stranger is a random toddler.
And kittens come preprogrammed with basic threat responses (because adult cats have no chill), so imagine that after the hero does the whole āwe don't take kindly to strangers in these partsā bit and pulls out a gun, the baby responds by pulling out their own gun and starting a shoot out.
