I think this is an unpopular opinion but I don’t care how many repeaters or stars winners we have. At the end of the day, if they’re the ones who come out on top after the recompete, they should win. This is nationals, it’s not “everyone gets a turn”

Me neither. Certain people and studios win a lot for a reason and the reason is that they are the best.

I think it is also funny that we get both "Stars is favoured by TDA" as well as "Anita didn't win because TDA doesn't want to give Stars that many wins" comments, like which one is it

answering to a comment on your previous post, I think the Stars favoritism allegations aren't related to any personal relations though. Like I can somewhat understand why people would suspect that p21 is favored at press play or Mather is favored at TDA because Danny and Molly are besties and Blake is Shannon's brother. But the Stars criticisim is solely based on the fact that they win a lot.

I agree with this, stars doesn’t have any links with the faculty that are close enough for them to get favoritism allegations. I feel like most people who are mad are upset at the fact that 1. They win too much and 2. They don’t like victor and angel. I feel like winning to much is not a valid reason to be mad tho because what is stars supposed to do? Get less good? Not liking victor and angel is valid but can we maybe wait a week so that we can give all the winners their moments like we do for everyone else before we shift the focus to their teachers?

If anything, Victor and angel don’t get along with most of the TDA staff or judges so they wouldn’t try and rig it for them. It was also pretty clear to me that all thier best dancer winners this year were deserved. Maybe not all their group placements though. Anyways, I think this year there was a lot more politics behind TDA with the fact that they knew a lot of people were moving to press play and trying to make all the studios happy. This was definitely a disadvantage for big studios like stars, who had many dancers that should’ve placed in top 20,10,3, etc.,but didn’t.

Hm, no, I don’t think so. Yes, technically Sylvie Win is far more advanced than the other three, and her performance was incredible. I’d agree with her being guaranteed no1 if this were The Dance Awards, but it’s not.

I think Press Play has more of a jazzy, modern vibe, and they’re also taking a lot more into consideration than just on stage performance. Stella F’s improv was much stronger than Sylvia’s and if she or any of the other finalists outshines Sylvie in more genres (like hiphop or jazz) I don’t think it’s unrealistic to say she could be beaten and I don’t think that automatically means Press Play is rigged.

like, we've seen her slay jazz. she can do hip-hop too 🤷‍♀️ like, we already know she's amazing in classes and the audition room

I would definitely be extremely suspicious if Sylvie win doesn’t win. There really is zero comparison to the other mini solos, with SW’s technique, maturity, artistry, difficulty, and emotional qualities. SF’s solo was also really advanced and entertaining, especially for the mini division, but I would argue, even if we’re talking about artistry and musicality, SW was still better. I also think in general, SW has much more experience and that definitely shows during auditions and classes. So I doubt that SW won’t win, but it would definitely be fair to call press play rigged if she doesn’t, especially considering previous questionable placing this season at PP that favored p21 and molly’s friendships with Danny lawn and other owners and choreographers at pp.
