Started Out as a Feeling is officially on hiatus.

I mean, it was on hiatus before, obvie, but I didn't really call it that? I dunno. I don't want to say it's abandoned, because I'm hoping I'll be able to take some time to edit and get all my shit together, but it doesn't look like it is happening soon. So, I'm setting myself up with a personal blog and will be there from now on, not bugging all of you with non-fic stuff.

I'm going to leave this up because the fic is here, and there's a lot of fic related stuff, and when/if I do come back to soaaf, I'll announce it here.

I love all of you, and I'm sorry that I have not yet been able to see this fic through to the end. It's just... not coming to me, and I have a lot of mixed feelings about how I have handled different issues and characters within the fic when I read over it. So it's entirely possible that in a few months I'll be back and able to present you with a streamlined, working fic that is more than just a spattering of indulgent porn that somehow worked itself into a plot. We'll see.

Not sure yet if I will be sharing the new space with anyone aside from a few friends, but I will probably be posting other, new (one-off) fics there eventually. I'd be interested to know if you are interested in getting the url to that.

So I like this list a lot and all, and, yes, it's very handy and all. But I'm a big fan of 'said'. Not time and time again, because, yeah, variety is good. I used to be a person who avoided using 'said'. But then I read Writing Magic by Gail Carson Levine, and in it she makes a very good point. 'Said' is invisible. The reader glides right over said, because it's familiar and good. So yeah, this is a good list because it gives us variety and reading the same thing over and over again is monotonous. Plus, sometimes someone is exclaiming something, or imploring, or reciting, and that needs to be known by the reader. But 'said' is not bad.

Media teacher: Part of why media is so constant is that it's so temporary. You can get emotional watching your favorite TV show, but after it's over, you forget about it and move on with your life. You might be upset if a character dies, but you wouldn't lock yourself in your room with a pint of ice cream and cry about it.
