Nyota Uhura: Starfleet Communications and Space Queen
Just read about Nichelle Nichols' passing. LLAP, Lt. Uhura 🖖 ❤️
Rest in peace Nichelle Nichols, December 28th 1932- July 31st 2022
“Last night, my mother, Nichelle Nichols, succumbed to natural causes and passed away. Her light however, like the ancient galaxies now being seen for the first time, will remain for us and future generations to enjoy, learn from, and draw inspiration.” - nichellenicholsofficial
Star Trek be like: let’s beam down the entire senior staff as the away team :) what could possibly go wrong :)
Posting this separately, because I think they look cute here :)
My God, Bones, what have I done?
What you had to do, what you always do. Turn death into a fighting chance to live.
Star Trek III: The Search for Spock (1984) dir. Leonard Nimoy
Oh will you look at that, it’s Michael Burnham, the Star Trek protagonist we all adore and center within her own show. Isn’t it great, how we’re all committed to exploring her story thoroughly and embracing her as the heart and soul of the current iteration of the franchise? Isn’t it magnificent?
In any case, I love Michael from the bottom of my heart and I would dearly love for the franchise to follow through on some, or indeed, any of its promises. And to grace my screen with Sonequa Martin-Green’s presence again.
Here’s to you, Commander Burnham.

In 1967, she appeared as Amanda, Mr Spock’s human mother in the Star Trek TV series, a part she took almost two decades later in the movie Star Trek IV: the Voyage Home (1986). During a Trekkie convention, a fan asked her: “If you are Spock’s mother, you should be able to tell us, what is Spock’s first name?” Hardly pausing, she replied, “Harold”.
