My temporary little intro post

You can call me Finch. I’m 27yr old gay trans man.

I love entomology, astronomy (really any kind of science), and Sonic the Hedgehog.

I’m an artist and a writer. I like making 3ft tall guys out of recycled waste and paper mache and naming them after food.

I’ll mostly post about:

-Bugs and critters I find (I am in my animal crossing summer this year so I will be catching bugs and fishing a lot)

-things I think look nice

-occasional Sonic stuff

-random rants/vents here and there

[June 1st, 2026] My neatest find yet! This little “ant” caught my eye while I was looking at some Loosestrife Beetles on a nearby plant. I squatted down for a closer look and was absolutely mesmerized by its little hand movements- like she was conducting an orchestra! Then I realized… that’s too many legs for an ant! And -oh boy, Too Many Eyes for one as well!!!

It’s an Ant Mimicking Spider! I believe a Slender Ant Mimicking Jumping Spider (Synemosyna formica) How neat!

One thing im uncomfortably woke about is bugs. And im actively trying to get more uncomfortably woke. By this i mean i DO believe the normalised fear of bugs stems from both government and business propaganda. The start of household pesticide sales coinciding with the boom in insect related horror movies. The promotion of anti intellectualism and anti enviromentalism. If you're scared of bugs, you wont care about saving them. If you dont care about saving them, you wont care about saving our home, since without bugs it cannot be saved. If you dont care about saving our home, the rich can do whatever they want with the chunks of it they continue to destroy.

I WILL calmly and kindly try to help anyone who is afraid of bugs. I will show them my finds, i will explain their importance, i will tell them just how sweet and gentle and friendly they are. And I WILL shoot down any immature loser who believes senseless killing is the only possible response to not liking something.

Get woke. Love bugs.

EDIT: this breached containment. My usual like count is like 5 😭 i want to clarify i mean people who conflate fear with hate are the ones who wont care about saving our planet, like people who threaten to kill peoples pet bugs or actively kill bugs outside for no apparent reason. Not people who run away from a bee.

was waiting for the elevator in the middle of taking out all the trash and a resident came out of her apartment like OH GOOD! maybe i can show you this weird bug that was in my BEDROOM! so i follow her and she gets out a magnifying glass and shows me a dead pillbug on a napkin. im like thats incredible ma'am thank you for letting me use the magnifying glass. she says "i told my creepy kids about the bug and they didn't even call me!" and this sentence is tunneling into my brain so bad theres a physical pressure
