Happy Mother’s Day to all you rockin’ mamas out there! Take time to be selfish and celebrate your awesomeness!💐 . I’ll be taking a little hiatus from IG this summer to focus on a few areas of life that I need to pour my energies into. All good things that are happening in a positive space, and I need to make sure I am fully present and engaged. I’ll still stalk the feed, of course, and may pop in to say hello every once in a while, but I’m going to take a break from posting and will hopefully come back refreshed and full of goofy stories and pretty doodles. . I was down with a migraine the last two days,so I’ll be catching up on comments, but wanted to share this beauty. . Vitiligo is caused by a loss of pigment in the skin, due to destruction of pigment-forming cells known as melanocytes. Some people choose to cover up their light patches, others do not. Next up in my “skin deep” series: acne. We all get it, why do we feel the need to hide it? Fun fact about me: I never really struggled with acne as a teen. I was one of the very fortunate few who only had to deal with the infrequent pimple now and then. But guess what? As soon as menopause hit, I got the full experience. Acne AND wrinkles! Thanks, middle aged hormones! . Despite being the most common skin condition, those with acne are often perceived negatively by others. Not only that, but there are so many misconceptions about it in general: that it is infectious, or caused by poor hygiene or diet. Having acne does not make you ugly or dirty. I’ve been working on a little series inspired by my girl, who struggles with the same skin condition I do. I wanted to show these conditions in a positive light, remove the shame and the stigma, and shout it loud and proud that skin in any color,and form, does not define who we are. . First up is our old friend eczema, otherwise known as the itch that rashes. It appears as a red, scaly rash that can also blister and weep. Hope everyone had a great weekend! N celebrated her 11th birthday with a slumber party for six. Yes, six pre-teen maniacs invaded my happy place last night! We are, however, sending them home all sugared up AND sleep deprived, so, you’re welcome, parents!😈 . I’m experimenting with faces and think I’ve hit upon something that I’m happy with that still retains the simplicity of my “style”.
