sharing a little something i scrapped late last year. we were assigned to make illustrations for a calendar and i was about halfway done with everything when my professor said we should steer clear of making fanart of anything from television, film, whatever. he probably wouldn’t have gotten the wes anderson references but i was still pretty unhappy with some mistakes i’d made rushing into these out of excitement, so i redid everything anyway.
(i still wound up making fanart, but of bands and musicians. i made art as a fan. that’s all that really is. my professor didn’t care--he didn’t know who joyce manor or grimes were, to name a few)
i’m not as happy with the final set of illustrations i submitted as i am with these, no matter how botched some things came out (my drawings for bottle rocket and rushmore really got screwed over and i barely progressed with my grand budapest one). i probably would’ve gotten a higher grade if i’d pursued the grand 2016 wes anderson calendar til the end. i think that just says a lot about how poorly i value what i actually gave my professor, but that doesn’t matter now.
i can finally leave this academic year behind. it really sucked balls. x
