Something like this would be so colossally helpful. I'm sick and tired of trying to research specific clothing from any given culture and being met with either racist stereotypical costumes worn by yt people or ai generated garbage nonsense, and trying to be hyper specific with searches yields fuck all. Like I generally just cannot trust the legitimacy of most search results at this point. It's extremely frustrating. If there are good resources for this then they're buried deep under all the other bullshit, and idk where to start looking.
>:)c
May I present to you, nationalclothing.org?
It doesn't have everything, but it's still my first source when researching traditional clothing from other cultures.
There's also this resource on historical fashion: Claire’s Historical Fashion Reference & Resources
another addition as far as physical media goes there is the encyclopedia of national dress (that i still need to buy myself bc this kind of thing is super important to my sort of fantasy designing) but yes i do agree i wish there was EVEN MORE documentation on this

there exists a specific dm emotion for when you know you'll probably have to kill one of your PCs (or at least put them in so much peril their chance of survival is slim) so that the world feels like it has consequences but you aren't really reveling in it.
Doing my best to try to avoid #Autodeath scenarios in Curse of Strahd like... Listen, I don't WANT to revel in a gotcha just because you *checks notes* trusted the floor and fell down an insanely long shaft.
perhaps one of the dumbest things i'll ever draw for this campaign

I made little intro cards with names and a few snippets not discussed in the main text. but all like little trivia stuff, I tried to make sure I actually said all the important stuff even if I had to rerecord. Here's a few :3
pg. 2
Fireball
Casts a small fire ball that quickly fizzles out upon leaving the casters hand. The caster is left with a small bouncy ball made of ash.
this spell has clearly been written wrong.
You know what? youre so right. Wizards need to mess up more.
I think, for the next wizard I play, I should try to come up with an idea about what failed spells might look like- narratively. Make a point to describe scrounging for spells and arcane notes and experimenting with them, only to dismal results.
Do that little bit of narrative work to make it feel like my character is studying, observing, learning, searching. And then when I improve my level or the dm gives me an actual spellscroll to study, it feels more important and impactful.
Is the dark lord of barovia a feminist? Is the count a queer ally? Is Strahd Von Zarovich my friend?
