Dallas Skyline
"Autumn in Dallas" - The beautiful Dallas skyline shimmers in sparkling lights as the glow of the evening sun gently reflects its brilliant display of Autumn colors. Undoubtedly breathtaking, the Dallas skyline has been voted the best skyline in the world as recently as 2014 in the USA Today’s Readers’ Choice contest for Best International Skyline.
"Dallas Skyline at Dusk" - Illuminated by a blend of ambient and artificial light, the glowing sunset shimmers off the glass and architecture of the Dallas skyline. As the sun prepares to dip below the horizon, Bank of America Plaza (center left) reflects tertiary colors of orange, pink, and yellow while lights on the iconic Reunion Tower (centered) flash and sparkle, bringing the city to life as the night quickly approaches. "Dallas Skyline - Color" - The warmth of the evening sunlight cascades onto downtown Dallas, covering the cityscape in a placid warm glow. As cars hum along the North Central Expressway, red and white lights from vehicle traffic streak through the city creating a sense of movement, energy, and depth. This image was taken from the roof of Cityplace Tower, the tallest building outside of downtown Dallas.
“The Archer” – The Hall of State debuted in 1936 as part of the Texas Centennial Exhibition and was originally named the State of Texas Building. Eventually designed by Donald Barthelme, the building is a premier example of Cret's Modernism. That is a reference to noted designer Paul Cret, who was the design consultant for the project. The design blends classicism and Art Deco â with a few Texas motifs (cacti, oil wells) tossed in for good measure. Crafted from Texas limestone, The Hall of State was, at a cost of $1.2 million, the most expensive building per square foot built in Texas at the time. The signature element of the building's exterior is the 11-foot-tall statue of a Tejas Indian poised above the main entrance. Artist Allie Tennant made the statue of bronze and covered it with gold leaf. Meanwhile, the bronze doors feature designs that represent Texas industries and activities â a cowboy's lariat, cotton bolls and wheat sheaves, among others. 59 Texans are honored in the frieze around the top of the building. “Dallas Skyline at Sunrise” – Gleaming like a sparkling gem, the early morning sun envelops the Dallas skyline in incandescent warmth with colors of aureolin, saffron, lavender, wisteria, and marigold. In the foreground, a flooded Trinity River winds past the city, revealing a rarely photographed moment of the beautiful Dallas skyline. (Photo/Stephen A. Masker)

Magnified view of "November Devil", a sculpture of a bronze tornado and a tribute to the unpredictable nature of North Texas. Additionally, the sculpture is a nod to Denton County’s past when the landscape was dusty prairie lined with a stubborn strip of Cross Timbers. David Iles’ piece is just as easily a metaphor for present-day Denton, a place that’s changing fast, blurring then and now together. (at Denton, TX)
