So basically I got told by an anon that I can’t call out people who happen to be black for ableism. Even if they were directly insulting me for being disabled in rl I would have to wait for another black person who is disabled to come and save me. Like what the heck kind of logic even is that?
Yah know, if the BML can criticize people for not showing up to a BML protest during the Orlando shootings vigil I can criticize why people aren’t getting on the cases of PoC blogs for being ableist. Don’t be mistaken though. I do call out ableism no matter what race the person is. So there is this bill out now that would make you face penalties for not agreeing to a genetic test with an employer. Do they not think that wouldn’t provide employers the power to be more discriminatory? What about privacy rights?
What happened to the special needs teenage boy in Chicago was horrible and sad, but the whole situation has turned into a white supremacist propaganda narrative to paint all black people as violent thugs and I’m not ok with that. When news got out, I was already seeing a plethora of angry racist white people shouting the n word and telling every black person to “go back where they came from.” Not cool.

No one says that nothing bad can happen to a white guy or that black people can’t commit violence, but systemic oppression is more than something tragic happening to someone. That guy is obviously more likely to face ableism than gender or race specific attacks.

That means it is still a hate crime if he was targeted for his disabilities. They also called him a goof, which is nothing of his mental capabilities. I think they picked on him for being disabled and the white comments were a rouse to get people to support them. Which there are people supporting this.
