Me: Is there any way to prepare for a performance so that my nerves won't make me fuck up?
Literally every single musician:
me: puts effort, stresses about an audition for honors orchestra, is insanely happy because i got in
march: haha you know what would be fun? you know what would be fucking fun?? haha my finger slipped all your effort is crap now whoopsie
made my first POV tiktok based on the type of stand partner we’ve all had at least once in our lives...
Push play and just trust me
This sounds like something that would be playing in a story set in Victorian London slums or something? I DON’T KNOW.
ITS A GODDAMN SHANTY
its appropriate anywhere from the wild west to a pirate ship to imperial russia a jaunty steampunk adventure to one impressive bard
ok this shit FUCKS
@broadwaytheanimatedseries @dia-mond-universe
Damn this fucking slaps
Vitamin String Quartet do covers of pop songs with classical string arrangements. Some of them are really close to the original, like:
Take Me To Church: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gLs_-SXZGqE
Bohemian Rhapsody: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QjD80dBPelI
Wonderwall: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UvHkxAb3tNY
But others are just far enough away that they sound like classical music for a minute:
Pompeii: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AIcDIZGlr9U
this oddly sad cover of Despacito: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FAi-F1Io7gc
Alejandro: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S6kkHp_Qj-U
wasn’t there a Sherlock Holmes song sung to this exact melody?
If I may add some of my personal favorites, we have:
Animal I Have Become — (My personal fave) The perfect tango-style spicy dance number you need when your hero and villain are having a tense dance number together
Rockabye — For a group of plucky young fantasy protagonists trekking on a LOTR-style adventure!
Stressed Out — Another high-tension Victorian slum/ball-style one like Thrift Shop up there
Thnks Fr Th Mmrs — Training montage before a gigantic battle scene/just preparing for battle in general, hype music!!!
CrushCrushCrush — And here’s the battle sequence!!!
Always remember to stay gay for this woman
I just love it when Hilary Hahn
Kid during violin lesson
Did you bring your book today?
Why not?
Then did you bring your violin today?
Why not?
What are you even doing here?
Me, working at an exam centre when I asked the parent of this really young child where her music was and the mum said “oh I didn’t think we’d need that!”
Whaaaaat you didn’t think your kid would need MUSIC for her MUSIC exam?!?!
now that i’m teaching kids i understand how frustrated my teacher is when i don’t practice enough,,, and no this does not mean my practice habits will improve
Same here. Future Suzuki teacher.
music college kids: jazz edition
since i can’t relate to any of those other posts for conservatories
piano: if they switched from classical they’re pretty down to earth, always stressed but nice. if not, they’re dumbass caffeine addicts who think wearing sweaters make them “aesthetic”
guitar: greasy, unhealthy obsession with django, practices in their dorm but will complain about someone singing in the shower
bass: looks stoned but is actually just confused, says “dude” way too much, hasn’t properly clipped their nails in years
drums: chill aura, but gets super annoyed when they don’t get a copy of the lead sheet, inexplicably bad at spelling
vibes: acts easygoing but is constantly thinking of ways to change the arrangement, question mark spine, hermit
trumpet: has niche hobbies, probably high on allergy or migraine meds
saxophone: UNHINGED, knows far too much about a certain topic, only owns three outfits
other winds: likes not having the melody so they can fuck around in rehearsal
strings: hates all horn players, regrets their choices
voice: says “vox” out loud, practices swaying in the mirror, all of their social media is just promos for upcoming shows
pineapple: there is actually a kid at my school who plays the pineapple. life is hell.
maybe this will be what finally cures my performance anxiety... maybe next time I perform I’ll just be like
thank GOD an AUDIENCE
i made a meme
Church Orchestra be like
17 key changes 11 tempo changes 145 repeats 16 different violin parts fortissississississimo “prayerfully” six flats five sharps accidentals everywhere sixlets sixty-fourth notes
High school orchestra concerts am I right
As any music student will tell you, the week before a concert is just a vicious fight for a chance to sit in the prized first chair.
if you're not hyping up your stand buddy for their solo then what are you even doing
