Soldier Vanessa Guillen Disappeared From Fort Hood Army Base in April. Hereâs What You Need To Know About the Case
Vanessa Guillen, a 20-year-old U.S. soldier, last seen on April 22 in a parking lot on the Fort Hood Army Base in central Texas.
Her car keys, barracks room key, identification card and wallet were later found in the armory room where she had been working earlier in the day. Her phone has yes to be found
Three weeks before her disappearance, Vanessa Guillen told her mother that she was being sexually harassed and followed by an Army sergeant, but was afraid to report him, according to the Guillen family who made a website to coordinate their search. Guillen did not disclose the name of the alleged perpetrator to her mother.
Remains were found a few feet from a pile of a burn mound that was searched June 20. Concrete had been poured over the remains, and subsequent rainstorms allowed the grave to settle into natural-looking terrain.Â
Identity of the remains have not been confirmed.
2 suspects were in custody one of the suspects died by suicide Wednesday morning when confronted by investigators in Killeen.
Texas Rangers have arrested the estranged wife of a former Fort Hood soldier in connection with the disappearanceÂ
3 other remains were found at that army base including Gregory Morales, Brandon Rosecrans & Zach Partin
Krysta Martinez, a former Fort Hood soldier who started the âWhere is Vanessaâ hashtag and who also filed complaints of sexual harassment at the base died in a Car AccidentÂ

this is true. theyâre also being deployed in Minneapolis (along with a predator drone), and the military is monitoring protests in New York, Ohio, Colorado, Arizona, Tennessee, and Kentucky, presumably theyâll send troops there sooner or later. be safe out there.
to my black followers,
i love you, you are important, your life matters. and iâm so sorry for how america, and the world treats you.
John Boyega at Hyde Park demonstration #BlackLivesMattter
[Transcript]
[Boyega]: I want to thank every single one of you for coming out. This is very importantâthis is very vital. Black lives have always mattered! We have always been important. We have always meant something. We have always succeeded regardless, and now is the time. I ainât waiting! I ainât waiting! I have been born in this country, Iâm 28 years old, born and raised in London, Iâve grown tiredâevery black person understands and realizes the first time you are reminded that you are black. You remember, every black person in here remembers, when another person reminded you that you are black. So none of you out there, all those protestors on the other side protesting against what we want to do, protesting against what we want to try and achieve, [?] you, because this is so vital.
[Other voices, to crowd]: Sit down! Sit down!
[Boyega]: Sit down, guys, we have to sit down. If you could sit down, if you can sit down. Now I need you guys to understand, I need you to understand now how painful this shit is! I need you to understand how painful it is to be reminded every day that your race means nothing! And that isnât the case anymore. That is never the case anymore. We are going to try todayâwe are a physical representation of our support for George Floyd.
[Crowd cheers]
[Boyega]: We are a physical representation of our support for Sandra Bland! We are a physical representation of our support for Trayvon Martin! We are a physical representation of our support for Stephen Lawrence! For Mark Duggan! It is very, very important that we keep control of this moment and we make this as peaceful as possible. We make this as peaceful and as organized as possible. Because you know what, guys, they want us to mess up. They want us to be disorganized. But not today! Not today!
[Other voices]: Not today!
[Boyega]: Not today! And now this message is specifically for black men. Black men, weâ[Boyega cuts off, crying and bending over from emotion]
[Crowd]: Speak! Speak!
[Other voices]: You can do this, youâve got this.
[Boyega]: Black men, black men, we need to take care of our black women. We need to take care of them! They are our hearts! They are our hearts, they are our future, we cannot demonize our own. We are the pillars of the family. Imagine this, a nation that is set up with individual families that are thriving, that are healthy, that communicate, that raise their children in love, have a better rate of becoming better human beings, and thatâs what we need to create. Black men, it starts with you, and itâs done, manâwe canât be trash no more. We have to be better.
You donât understand, Iâm speaking to you from the heart. Look, I donât know if Iâm going to have a career after this. But fuck that--[words bleeped out]. This, today, is about innocent people who were halfway through their process. We donât know what George Floyd could have achieved; we donât know what Sandra Bland could have achieved. But today weâre going to make sure that that wonât be an alien thought to our young ones. Iâm sure you lot came today, you left your kids, and when you see your kids there aimlessly playing, they donât understand whatâs going on. Today is the day that we remind them that we are dedicated, and this is a lifelong dedication. Guys, we donât leave here and stop, you know. We donât leave here and stop. This is longevity. Some of you are artists, some of you are bankers, some of you are lawyers, some of you own shops, stores. You are important. Your individual power, your individual right, is very, very important. We can all join together to make this a better world. We can all join together to make this special. We can all join together!

black communities have been witnessing executions like the one that happened to George Floyd throughout generations of oppression. this is terrorism, and it is not the burden of these communities to demand change. so, white people. how can we show up to support our black communities during this time?
1. call the mayor of Minneapolis, Jacob Frey: (612) 673-2100 and the DA: (612) 348-5550. demand the prosecution of all of the officers involved in the murder of George Floyd, including Derek Chauvin (badge 1087) and Tou Thao (badge 7162).
2. text âFloydâ to 55156 and demand that the officers in charge of George Floydâs death be charged with murder.
3. black people are asking that we STOP sharing the video of George Floydâs death. we do not need to witness a murder in order to care about it. cruelty like this exists and it is REAL. period.
George Floyd was face down on the ground with a grown manâs knee in the back of his neck, begging them to let him breathe. the officerâs knee remained there even after losing consciousness. the officer continued to kill him. no one deserves a death of that manner and we should all be outraged. to be black in the U.S. should not be a death sentence.
hereâs the link to donate to george floydâs official memorial fund if you are able to contribute. if you canât donate, please share. being black shouldnât be a death sentence.
i donât even know where to begin with this...the fact that black people are still so blatantly oppressed and abused is absolutely sickening. george floyd, trayvon martin, breonna taylor, ahmaud arbery, tamir rice, oscar grant, eric garner, and philando castile are just a few of MANY victims of racism and brutality. the fact that thereâs even a single name on that list is abhorrent. why should ANYONE have to fear an officer of the law when these very men and women are supposed to be protecting us? in the name of justice no less? black americans have faced oppression for YEARS and yet it is still not uncommon to wake up to another case of police brutality. when will this fucking stop?
speak up. spread awareness. donât let this shit go on any longer!! remember that being silent is a PRIVILEGE. no matter how big or small your platform you should use it.
