An early-season 6 AU where instead of Dean finding Lisa, and Cas going to restore order in heaven, they start an "apple-pie life" together.

I cannot overstate how wonderful it is to have a friend group that is both physically and verbally affectionate. It's the best, most healing thing.

It's a mixed group of genders, straight and queer, with couples and pairings and crossovers that have come, gone, and stuck. A combination of siblings, childhood best friends, college companions, and adult found family.

We trust each other and find comfort in each other's presence and closeness.

It's hugs all around. Cuddling on the couch during movie night. Sharing a chair or sitting on a knee when there aren’t enough seats. Cheek and hair kisses. Chaste kisses on the mouth, too. Hand squeezes and shoulder rubs. Dancing on a night out. Holding hands on the walk home at 1 am. Solid embraces while someone cries. Piggy-back rides. A shoulder to sleep on during a long flight.

We say "I love you" when we hang up. When we leave from a group dinner. After a drive-by drop off of a forgotten bag.

I am immeasurably grateful and I wish this kind of love and comfort for everyone who wants it.

I also think that the strength gap is at least partially manufactured women would in fact be stronger overall if little girls were encouraged to do physically taxing games and activities and eat their fill while they’re growing vs having to constantly diet and be sedentary indoors (or god forbid do intense cardio while under-eating). The amount of adult women honestly afraid to lift weights bc they think they’ll get bulky as though bulking isn’t a full time job that athletes have to spend all their time on and anyone on earth gets shredded from just using their adult muscles for their intended purpose, girl your bone density 🥀

If you're writing anything involving cons, scams, heists, or morally questionable characters who are very good at lying, here are some free resources I've been using for research. Saving you the "why is this in my search history" anxiety.

1. The FBI's Famous Cases & Criminals archive (fbi.gov/history/famous-cases) has detailed breakdowns of real fraud cases, Ponzi schemes, and confidence operations. The language they use is clinical and precise, which is perfect for getting the procedural details right.

2. The FTC Consumer Sentinel Network publishes annual reports on the most common fraud tactics in the US. Great for understanding how modern scams actually work and what makes people fall for them.

3. The Smithsonian's American Art Museum has a free digital collection of forgery case studies. If your character forges documents or art, this is gold.

4. Court Listener (courtlistener.com) is a free legal database where you can read actual court transcripts from fraud trials. Want to know how a real con artist talks under oath? This is where you find out.

5. The Internet Archive's collection of old newspaper crime sections. Search for "confidence man" or "swindle" in papers from the 1920s through 1960s and you'll find incredible real stories that would feel too dramatic for fiction.

Bonus: The Psychology of Fraud section on the Association for Psychological Science website has accessible articles about why people trust, how deception works cognitively, and what makes someone a convincing liar. Essential reading if you want your con artist characters to feel psychologically real.

I'm a bi woman whose partner is a man, which means that generally speaking no one remembers/believes that I'm queer, even though I don't hide it and am pretty open about it.

And my coworker who is from a very small, rural town, saw me for the first time this week and said, very kindly and a bit shyly, "Happy Pride."

I was so caught off guard that I had to check that's what she said.

"Yeah, I realized it was Pride month and that I actually know someone, and I thought 'I can tell her Happy Pride'."

It made my fucking day. It's that easy.
