Biddies Traveling in Heels: Tibet Edition
First stop: Tibet
Will be on my way to the train station here in Chengdu in less than an hour, thus commencing the two-day journey to Lhasa, Tibet. Feeling really excited about the trip, and I'm certain the nerves will subside when I'm all settled on the train. Though being prepared mitigates the anxiousness quite a bit...
Traveling must-haves: journal, Salinger, ID, camera, and an item of comfort - in this case, my Moroccan scarf.
Snacks for the trip: chinese ramen (yum), sunflower seeds, tea, shortcakes, and most importantly, instant coffee.
Courtesy of Mama Fu - tea soaked eggs. DELICIOUS.
Not entirely sure what to expect from the trip...just know that I will be feeling pretty awestruck most of the time. And it all starts with beautiful sceneries like this along the way.

T-2 days.
Homecoming Noms Pt. 1
Fresh veggies bought from the local farm
Mom getting ready to cook some noms.
Beans, minced meat and chopped tomatoes. One of my all time favs.
Steamed eggplant and dipping sauce (roasted Jalapeño peppers and minced garlic with soy sauce)
Homecoming Noms Pt. 2
Mom whipping up some HuiGuoRou (double cooked pork)
HuiGuoRou - done and done.

Home sweet home
Haven't been in China in the summer time for a while, almost forgot how beautiful things can be when the weather is pleasant. Especially when all my animal friends come out to play.
view of our garden from the front door.
The bird that talks, he even speaks english. What a treat.
The occasional spider shedding its shell on our porch. Gross. (This shot required LOTS of courage and some inevitable shrieking)
TURTLE!
Feeling the heat
Waking up to coffee and Celtics on this fine Sunday morning here in China.
Art as commodity - doesn't get better than this.
