where do you think i could ask someone for advice in how to position my furniture to make a ocd/adhd friendly room. do i ask for a interior designer? i just wanna know how i should place my stuff and if there's anything i should get
I legit got no idea, like this is just not a question I've ever considered
As an Audhd Interior designer I can definitely say there are some useful things I have done to arrange and organize my space!
I got some clear storage drawers/bins from Kmart (australia) that are so good coz 1. They're clear and easy to see what's in there, 2. They're stackable, and 3. they come in different sizes so I can keep things organized in categories!
Also closed storage for things you don't need/use often is very good as it looks neater
Keep a desk or workspace/reading nook, close to the window for natural light - keep beds further from windows/doors so you're less likely to be disturbed while trying to sleep
Any furniture you can get that is multi purpose or space saving is ideal! I got a mini trestle table that has 3 different heights the legs can sit at, and when I don't need to use it, it folds up and I can put it out of the way 👌🏼😊
Also something I have done in literally my whole house, is festoon / fairy lights / remote control puck lights / lamps, etc - any soft ambient lighting to light my house in a sensory pleasing way, so I never have to deal with painful bright lights (I even put a little battery operated light in the bathroom for late night trips to the toilet)
Also because exec dysfunction HITS and I struggle to clean up sometimes even though I HATE leaving mess around - I got little empty plant pots or baskets or whatever looks nice to discreetly sit within arms reach of the places I normally sit so I can always have a little place to put rubbish without getting up, then I just tip them all into one bag on bin day 😊
Hope this helps a bit!
