Ace x Fem Reader - Happy Birthday FireBug
(A little follow up to this for Ace Birthday)
There was only a few more days before the the Moby would dock to celebrate New Year Day and Ace's birthday but you and Rouge were only really interested in celebrating Ace's birthday, so with Rouge being 5 now and spitting the image of him just with your eye colour and golden blonde hair, she wanted(demand) to help make his cake, so that's what the afternoon was spent doing.
Baking with an excited 5 year old was somewhat a little eventful, having to fish out bit of egg shells, getting covered in flour and other little bit getting flung around the kitchen.
After the cake mix was done and the cake plan, you placed them in the oven before turning Rouge and telling her to go dust/clean herself off, while you worked on cleaning up the kitchen. The amount of flour that ended up floor you were sure that it could make another cake.
When you finished tidying the kitchen and then yourself, the cake was ready to come out and then left it on the side to cool. You had to tell Rouge that she wasn't allowed to touch the cake until it was ready to decorate as they had to make it look amazing for Daddy.
Distracting your chaos gremlin was easy by getting her to make a birthday card for Ace. Rouge laid happily on the floor in front of the fire place creating her newest masterpiece for the front on the card with her tongue poking out a little as she focused.
When she was finished, you helped her write the message on the inside and once she had proclaimed it prefect, you took and placed it in a draw to keep safe along with her present.
After dinner and with Rogue in bed, you started working on a 'Happy Birthday' banner and would allow Rouge doodle in the blank spaces on it, so she can say she helped.
You still had yet find a present for Ace as you still had no idea what to get him, even Marco was no help when you called a while ago. You had one idea but that was for when Rouge was spending the night on the Moby with her many uncles, aunties and Grandpa.
After finishing the banner, you sat back on the couch and would try to find something in town tomorrow afternoon, that was easier said than done, why was buying for Ace so damn annoying and you knew if you asked him, he would say not to bother getting him anything him.
That afternoon when you and Rouge were in town, you kept checking the stalls to see anything that spoke to you but nothing and you kept looking around while getting a few little bit that you needed. As both you were about to head home, something finally caught your eye as you saw some flowers and as you got closer could see they were fake flowers with a clip on them.
Looking at the type of flowers they were selling the one that took your interested was the pink hibiscus one, as Ace mentioned them when he saw any. Picking it up to have a closer look at it and making made sure it was good, you handed berries over for it as you thanked the owner and place the flower clip in your bag and then finally headed home with Rouge chatting away. That night you wrapped up both your and Rouge gifts and put them on the side with both Rouge card on top of it.
With only one more day till the Moby arrive, you started setting up all the birthday decorations that you and Rouge had made, before in the afternoon decorating the cake, you did most of it and let Rouge add her own little touches around the side.
Trying to get Rouge to go to sleep in the evening was eventful as she was so excited knowing that she'll get to see her daddy the following morning and getting to give him her present, what she was very excited for him to see.
Sitting back on the couch you let a sigh out as you could finally relax as the only thing that need to be done now was for Ace to show up in the morning and not be late.
You swore you had fallen asleep on the couch but woke up in bed, cracking your eyes up open a little and noticed a very familiar chest in your view and groaned.
"Breaking and entering is illegal you know" you said
"Good things I'm pirate, always doing something illegal" was the replay you got back
"You're gonna have to sneak out before Rouge wakes so she can surprise you later" you muttered, closing your eyes.
"How long before she wakes up" Ace said, but you knew he was smiling.
"Half hour at most I would think" you told him, shifting closer to him.
"Plenty of time to snuggle" he said, wrapping his arms around you.
You settled into his hold and enjoyed warmth it gave, knowing it was going to be a long day before you got to be in them again. You listened to his heart as it began to draw you back to sleep but soon sounds of Rouge getting up reached you.
"It seems that you had better make your escape now" you said and got a whine as an reply, "You know the crew want to celebrate your birthday this morning, so go before they come here to drag you back and deal with a sad Rouge cause she didn't get to surprise you" you told him.
That had Ace sitting up and looking at you, almost like you weren't playing fair but it worked and that's all you needed. He lent down and kissed the side of your temple.
"I won't be letting go later" he told you, as he pulled his boots on and grabbed his hat, as he sneaked out and headed back to the Moby, where your many siblings no doubt had a celebration breakfast waiting for him.
Not long after Ace had left, Rouge had come running into your room and jumping on the bed, till you grabbed her and pulled her close.
"Mummy you have to get, It's Daddy birthday and he'll be here soon" Rouge whined, trying to wriggle free of you.
"Daddy won't be here for a few more hours, so we can sleep some more" you reassured her.
"But Mummy, we have to make breakfast first and I'm hungry" she told you.
D members and their blackhole for stomachs, you thought as you freed your tiny monster and got out of bed, to feed her and hoped the morning went a little quicker than normal.
It went quicker after feeding Rouge as she was trying to find the prettiest outfit to wear as she couldn't make her mind up, even when you told her that Ace was going to think she was the prettiest girl no matter what she wore but that didn't seem to help but eventually she settled on a blue dress before asking for crown braid, what you did for her.
You settled on a skirt and an off the shoulder white top, something simple. As you sat in the living room waiting for the birthday boy to arrive 'officially' this time, Rouge was brimming with excitement standing near the door, waiting for the knock.
Something pinged on your senses, knowing that he was nearly here and just watched Rouge, waiting for the moment he knocked on the door and when it happened, your tiny whirlwind jumped and rushed to the door, as you stood up and and went over, opening the door.
Ace was standing there with a wide smile as Rouge threw herself him and he picked her up, hugging her close walking inside.
"Happy Birthday Daddy!!!!" she shouted, wrapping her arms round his neck.
"Thank you princess" he answered, kissing her check.
"Happy Birthday Ace, your daughter has been waiting all morning for you" you told him giving him a kiss, and indicated to the decorations with your head.
Ace looked at the all decorations and noticed the colourful doodles on them and looked at the Rouge.
"Did you help with decorations" he asked and Rouge nodded her happily "They're beautiful, a proper little artiest in the making" he said, putting her down.
Once the floor Rouge went to where there presents were, wanting her daddy to see her presents as she had been work hard on it.
"It seem that Rouge really wants you to open your present" you chuckled, sitting down next to him.
"Everyone loves presents" he grinned.
Looking down at the handmade card he thanked Rouge for it as he began to open her present what a book filled with drawings that she had made, and was telling him what each one was as it made a story. By the end of it you could see the wetness in his eyes as he told Rouge he loved it and hugged her close, pressing a kiss into her hair.
He opened your present and looked a little confused at the flower clip.
"It's a fake hibiscus flower, so you can clip it on to you hat or sting this beads are on, so now you don't have to worry about it dying and can have a little something on you to be remind of your mum" you explained him.
"I love both them" he said, wiping a few stray tears away.
He pulled his hat off and put the hibiscus clip on the string as he then put his hat on Rouge head, who beamed when ever she got to wear his hat. Rouge began to tell him all about what she had been up to and the adventures she and her friends had.
You moved to the kitchen and started on lunch, knowing you were going to need make a bit with Ace here, listening as Rouge told him everything though you knew his eyes were on you and would look at him with a smile or stick your tongue out.
"Ok my two blackhole, lunch is done" you told them, as you brought plates with food on out and placed them on the table, then going to get back more plates of food, having a little buffet for lunch, as you would be having dinner on the Moby and leaving Rouge there night, which reminded you that you need to pack a bag for her.
After lunch was done and everything that was used was cleaned, you pack an overnight bag. You had no doubt that she'll be up late and having a midnight fest with Thatch, Vista and Haruta at least. She was defiantly going to be having dream tonight, you hoped that Marco and Izou kept them some what inline.
Some time after 3 you pulled out the birthday cake and put a few candles in and lit them, not that you needed with Ace but oh well, you weren't going to get him to lit his own candles. You placed the cake in front of Ace as both you and Rouge began to singing the happy birthday to them and when finished Ace blew the candles out.
"What did you wish for Daddy" Rouge asked him.
"Rouge if he tells you it might now come true" you told her, " And we want daddys wish to come true don't we" you asked and she nodded her head.
You smiled while cutting the cake up, giving Ace the biggest bit as the birthday boy.
Just as you all were about to head to the Moby, you told Rouge go grab a teddy for the night. She came back with a yellow cat one and held it. As you grabbed overnight bag, Ace grabbed Rouge and put her on his shoulders.
On the way to Moby, Rouge was telling you both what she could see and the closer the you got to the ship, the more she moved not being able to sit still on Aces shoulder.
Stepping foot on the deck of the Moby, every welcomed you and as soon as Rouge was put on down, she was running to everyone and hugging them before going to Pops.
"Grandpa!" she shouted as went over and climbed into his lap.
She then began to tell him everything she could since last seeing him, making Pops laughs as she told her tales to him. You left her there as you went around and talked to your siblings, mostly the ones you missed the most and when you looked at Rouge some times later, she had some sort lolly, you would allow it this once.
When the dinner celebration began, she was between both you and Ace, and you were sure she trying to beat Ace in who could eat the most but she had quite a few years before would keep up with him. Some of the crew were bemused by this while some of the other just shook their head.
The evening went by quickly and soon the fireworks were going off, that seem like a good time to leave when they finished and you went to Rouge, kissing her forehead and telling her to be good for her Grandpa and Aunties but a menace to her Uncles while daddy wasn't here.
She the smile she gave was full of mischief and chaos, you nearly felt sorry for some of crew but that wasn't your problem for the night. You waved goodbye to the crew as you and Ace head back to your little house.
"There no child night, so I can think of a few activities that we don't have to be silent for" you told him.
As soon as you said them, you were thrown over his shoulder as he gave your ass a nice little smack to it, which had you chuckling as he walked quicker.
"You sure know how to spoil the birthday boy" he grinned at you.
"Anything for my firebug," you told him, and then processed to whisper all the ideas you have for the night and that you even made sure to stock some snacks in the bedroom.
"I love you and that brain of your for that forethought, cause we ain't leaving that bedroom for next 12 hours" he promised.
This was going to be a birthday that Ace wouldn't forget any time soon.
