people on here are always saying “we NEED a story where the art of storytelling is abandoned” like ugh literary devices are soo annoying like that wouldn’t happen in real life that only happened to further the story (why is there story in my story) why would orpheus turn around when he was explicitly told not to why would icarus fly so close to the sun romeo&juliet catcher in the rye why are they so earnest why pour your heart and soul into anything why bother why cant all art be quippy logical monotony like my marvel movies there’s a void in my heart bc i refused to fill it and the curtains were blue

I normally hate characters like Colin Robinson who exist to create awkward comedy, or generally be completely insufferable without any self-awareness as to how incredibly annoying they are. But I love Colin Robinson because he does it ON PURPOSE. I am not watching some doofy dude ramble endlessly about something without any care that he has dried up everyone's goodwill five minutes back. Instead I am watching a predator stalk his prey with annoyance and boredom until they ultimately collapse in a grey haze of exhaustion. Now THIS is a guy I can root for

coming of age film where a girl is really good at shoplifting and her dad finds out and is all like no daughter of mine is gonna be a shoplifter! and she goes but dad you don't understand I'm really good at it! maybe the best! this could be my calling! my purpose! and he goes absolutely not you're grounded young lady and at the climax she sneaks out and nabs like hundreds of dollars in fishing equipment and walks out of the store and all her friends are there cheering and lifting her up on their shoulders and the dad is there with his arms crossed and he looks mad as hell but then he sees what she got and realizes she did this to support his fishing hobby he's like well Christy I may not understand it but if it means this much to you... I guess it's alright with me and then the movie ends with them on the lake having a couple beers
