Kal has many regrets
I'm gonna miss all the various ways people draw kaladin's hair once the movies get made
[second photo caption]
deleted user: Here is an example of a Mongolian girl with red hair. [original photo unavailable] Would she make a good example of a Vadan [sic] Dark Eyes, u/mistborn ?
mistborn/Brandon Sanderson: Yes, that's a good example. Though do remember, Vedens aren't all redheads--that's going to depend on region, and even have a lot of variance within regions. (Alethi skin tone will be similar in its variety, depending. Vedens in general tend to be lighter.)
Here's another image I noticed a while back that feels very like what I'd imagined.

Kaladin???? Is that you?
Men's fashion in 2021 appears to be conspicuously short of lightsabers or shard blades.
Kaladin and Adolin as cool boys. Well this one was my favourite post for the #cosmerefashionweek two weeks ago by edgebanter on Instagram. I'll leave the description below
My brother and I were talking that they looks like a couple of uni boys so i did this hilarious description š
Adolin: Rich boy, son of the uni owner. Confident, Humility. But he's very fighter if someone annoyed him, he always supports his friends and family. Has ethic codes, but he'd break them if he or his family are feeling under threat. Doesn't like big responsibilities. Unstable relationships. Love the fashion and Redheads.
Kaladin: Won an Scholarship, he has the best degrees, the most honorable of his classmates. He's always leading the groups and likes the challenges, he's fast annoyed, has depression but his friends try to spend time with him so he feels fine. He has a special relationship with a friend that is his reason voice.
Adolin and Kaladin have a complementary dynamic together and a cool friendship.
And finally for #cosmerefashionweek some actual couture... and in that case a robe from the Valentino Couture Spring Collection 2021 and the other from Iris Van Herpenās Syntopia runway collection. Especially Van Herpenās designs fit so nicely into a fantastical setting... it was challenging to translate the texture of her crazy creations and I am not sure how satisfied I am with this one overall, buuuut I definitly want to put some singers and fused into some of her designs... at some point.
I put together some of the common references I use for each of the Stormlight characters I draw most often, aswell as the main colours I use for each.
Hopefully this would be a good starting point for someone who isnāt sure how to draw the characters, though certainly not the be all and end all of what they look like. As long as you are respecting the canonical features that they have that correlate to real world PoC then you can draw them completely differently than I do.
Hereās another, more detailed post by @voiceoflights that includes Jasnah as well as Kaladin and Shallan that gave me the idea for this a while back!

This week is cosmere fashion week instigated by Edgebanter on instagram. So I thought broaden my own worldbuilding a little bit by having Adolin do a short guide through parts of the different fashion of roshar. Starting with my version of an ensemble a veden highprince might wear: striped jacket, takama and yes, a cape. (Because despite his own words... he CAN do cape!)
After that came Thaylenah. This outfit was certainly lend to him by Queen Fen's son Kdralk... (the style of the gloves I got from old photographs of the Romanov family after I thought for the cooler southern climate I wanted to have a tidbit of Russian influence in there...)
Bringing is my boy Sigzil to rock some fancy Azish robes (and hats) The cut of Adolinā open robe is a light nod towards the wide-sleeved robes worn by men in West Africa (although as I understand it, those are usually not open at the front and the sleeves are longer and/or folded over the shoulders... check out Nigerian wedding attire, itās awesome). The Patterns are in part inspired by modern and historical Javanese and African prints
some reshi fashion... Shallan, as we all, approves of open vests...
And back in Alethkar sporting the lashes fashion style of the capital (before it got... well...). I donāt know how Adolin convinced Kaladin into wearing lighteyes fashion. Probably he was just overwhelmingly charming and Kalās defences broke down... Since I take some inspiration from sarees and indian fashion for the alethi version of the havah, i donāt see why that wouldnāt seep into menās fashion as well. Besides I just really like the achkan and sherwani stylewise... (just take a look at the designs of indian designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee, if you donāt know them! Those are freaking gorgeous!) There will probably two more pictures for the weekend. But those won't contain Adolin, sooo I'll post these separately. Have a great weekend!!
I was fucking around in artbreeder and pulled out this face- If this isnt a perfect face claim for Kaladin i do not know what is. Maybe if he looked a bit more depressed. Too lazy to stick on the forehead scars, but have this

Q: Are shardblades uniform metal, or do they have different colors on the handle/hilt or whatever? Could you paint a shardblade and have it retain the paint when disappearing/reappearing? A: A Blade won't retain ornaments when dismissed, I'm afraid, including coloration. HOWEVER, they could be made to change colors when alive, and even their texture. So many Blades in the world have multiple tones, and the grip tends to be of a different texture. They're uniform metal, but don't always feel/look like it.

Alex Landi - Brandon Sandersonās facecast for Adolin Kholin.
(It was surprisingly difficult to find some decent pictures of Landi wearing a shirt. The internet prefers him shirtless.)
My sister texted me this. She's right and I hate her
Sigzil is Azish (for whom we used a black person as reference and in art direction descriptions) and Lopen Herdazian. (We used a Hispanic reference for him.) Kaladin, Moash, Teft, and Hobber are Alethiāso we used a variety of Asian, Middle Eastern, and blended references and art direction for them. Skar and Leyten are westerners, with Shin blood, so we used Caucasian references and guides for them. (Both are based on friends of mine from real life.) I think Rock was mostly from imagination, but Renarin is half-Alethi, half Riran using (I believe) an Asian reference. Soā¦thereās quite a lot of different Rosharan peoples on display here. At least the best we could do using Earth peoples as models.

An old painting of Adolin which I forgot to post. Drew this during a time when I was really tired of seeing fanart of Alethi which basically depicts them as white people with tanned skin, despite Sanderson having described in detail the typically Asian features that they possess. In retrospect, his facial expression is wayy too somber here and his hair is supposed to be blonde with black and I did it the otherway round instead lmao
