As @staff further refine the polls while they're rolling them out (still haven't gotten mine sadly), here's a suggestion of mine: Polls with a ten year time limit.

As of right now, it's impossible for polls to turn into long-running legendary posts. You can try, sure (see the bug race), but it's a week and then it's locked, fixed, done, and all that's left is for people to reminisce about that time there was a poll.

On the other hand, if a ten year poll gets popular, it can become part of Tumblr lore while still being updated. People can write passionate appeals for their vote and fight in the notes. Others can make graphs to show how the poll's majorities shift with each different US president or Taylor Swift album. People can make memes about "remember 2025, when option 3 was in the lead? That was a crazy time".

Why ten years, though, instead of a hundred or just no time limit? Because that way, the end becomes an event. People who voted in the poll when it was just a few hours old can watch the final countdown together, and there's a new point in Tumblr history: That day when we finally all agreed on the best option, and presumably also some important political stuff happened.

Now, granted, most ten year polls would never reach this level of notoriety. But it only takes a few polls like this to be worthwhile. Maybe this shouldn't be an option for users to select, but something the Tumblr website grants/pushes on you at random?

So, yeah. Ten year polls. They should be a thing.

I decided to try a little Eddie drabble. Feedback is greatly appreciated.

gn!reader | use of they/them | no further warnings (pls let me know if i missed something)

Eddie didn’t think you knew him. Hell, Eddie didn’t even think you knew he existed. That is, until one day during lunch you came to his table. He was chatting with Dustin and Lucas about DnD, when you suddenly appeared next to him.

“Hi”, you said and Eddie all but melted. Your voice was even more melodic than he had imagined. Not that he had imagined you in any other setting than school of course.

“You guys all play DnD, right?”, you continued and Eddie wondered what a person as beautiful as you could possibly know about DnD. “I’m y/n, Eddie and I have History together…anyway I was wondering if maybe you had a free place on your next campaign? Totally cool if not, but I’d love to play some time.”

Eddie nearly fainted at your words. You played dnd? And you wanted to play with him Eddie “The Freak” Munson? Had he somehow gotten himself stuck in an alternate universe?

When nobody said anything, not even Dustin or Lucas, you said, “Okay. Sorry to bother you. Enjoy the rest of your lunch!”

As you turned to walk away, Eddie gently grabbed your arm. “Sorry sweetheart. Next campaign is full already but maybe you could join us for the one after that? We meet Fridays after school in the basement.” He smiled at you.

You smiled back, “That would be great. Thank you!”

As soon as you were out of earshot, Dusting exclaimed, “Eddie! You just invited them to play with us!”

“And apparently you two have history together”, added Lucas giggling.

“They meant the subject, dipshit! And yeah, why not? See if they are any good?!”

“But…they’re popular”. Dustin whispered the last part as if it was some sort of secret.

“Yeah, so? I think we should expand our circle a little bit. Plus, if they’re any good, I can finally get rid of you.”

Dustin laughed, knowing Eddie was just joking. Really, he loved the kids and each one was a vital member of his Hellfire Club

Steve and you had been dating pretty much ever since you had moved to Hawkins. On your second day in the small town, you went to Family Video to get a membership card so you could borrow movies for you and your sister. Steve and Robin were standing behind the counter when you entered the store, you and Steve instantly locked eyes. You couldn’t deny that he was absolutely gorgeous but what sealed your faith was the clumsy way of his flirting. You thought he was a dork. Cute, but a dork. And that made him even more appealing to you for some reason. When you walked out of the store again about half an hour later, Steve couldn’t believe his luck. Somehow, someway, he had managed to get your number. Robin nudged him in the ribs with her elbow. “Well done, dingus!”, she grinned.

Looking back, this all seemed a life time ago. Since then, you had met the rest of the group -Dustin instantly became your favourite of the kids though you would of course never tell anyone- and had helped them try to save Hawkins. After the “earthquake”, Steve and you decided that life was too short and he asked you to move in with him. The two of you found a quaint little apartment and you quite enjoyed the domestic life. However, recently things had started to go downhill. Steve was more distant than usual, he wasn’t as touchy with you anymore as he used to be and the two of you barely talked. You were afraid your relationship was coming to an end and you didn’t think you could handle it. Having Steve in your life these past couple of months, being able to hold hands and kiss him whenever you wanted to, was something you didn’t want to miss. And what would happen to your friend group? After all, they were Steve’s friends first. Would you be able to still see them? Would you be able to still go to Hellfire nights or to Eddie’s Tuesday night shows at the Hideout? But the worst of all would be not to be able to spend time with Steve. You loved him and you didn’t want to know what it’d be like when he’s gone. That night when he came home, it’s like he could sense something was wrong. You didn’t greet him at the door with a kiss as usual but you had to be home. “Babe?”, he called into the house. “I’m home.” When you didn’t reply, he kicked off his shoes, took off his jacked and went to find you. You were sitting on your bed, face in your hands, the ring Steve had given you as a promise he was going to marry you one day - not an engagement ring - laying on the nightstand. Steve entered the room and immediately froze when he saw you. “Y/N? Babe? What happened?” He took a few strides to cross the room and kneeled down in front of you. Taking your hands in his trying to prying them away from your face. “Talk to me, sweetheart. What’s going on?” Searching your eyes with his he placed a gentle kiss on your knuckles. Hands intertwined with his, you could barely look at him. “Are you leaving me?”, you managed to choke out, tears threatening to spill out of your eyes. Steve eyes went wide. “What? Why would I do that?” Steve was shocked. How could you even asked him something like that? “I love you more than anything else, y/n, why would you even doubt that?”. You looked away from him. “You’ve been so distant lately and…and…it’s been a while since we…since we’ve done anything…it just…it feels like i’m losing you….”, you managed to get out in between sobs. By now you were sobbing so hard you had hiccups.

Steve dropped your hands, tears started welling in his own eyes but he never looked away from you. “I’m so sorry i made you feel that way, sweetheart. I would never even dream of leaving you. I love you and i want to spend the rest of my life with you. In fact…” He paused to pull a little black box out of his pants’ pocket. “These past couple of weeks, I was searching for the perfect engagement ring. I’m sorry that i made you feel like i don’t love you anymore. but it’s quite the opposite. i guess my mind was a bit preoccupied with this ring shopping but i never intended to make you feel less loved or less wanted than you actually are. y/n, you’re the love of my life and i promise you to show you every day how much you mean to me, starting today.” He gently took one of your hands in his again and with his other hand opened the ring box he was holding. “y/n l/n, this is not how i had pictured it but now is as good a time as any i guess. so, will you do me the honour and make me the happiest man on earth by becoming my wife?” Your eyes darted between Steve and the ring a few times before they found Steve’s. Unable to speak, all you could do was nod before you crashed your lips onto his. Steve took the ring out of the box and slipped it onto your finger, without ever breaking the kiss. When you finally broke away, Steve wiped away your tears with his thumb and you returned the favour. “I’m so sorry I doubted you, Stevie. I was just scared of losing you”, you admitted while admiring the ring that now adorned your finger. “Hey, no”, Steve said. “You have nothing to be sorry for. I was so preoccupied with finding the perfect ring for the perfect woman that I forgot how to treat you properly. But that will never happen again.” You knew he meant it. You pressed another kiss to his lips and felt him smile into it. You couldn’t wait to tell everyone the good news, you knew they’d be thrilled for you although Dustin might freak out a bit but to be honest, so will Robin.

Improvised the horns during the cafeteria scene (for all we know, I’d wager cash money at this point that he probably also fully improv'ed the table walk moment, too)

Improv'ed the entire picnic table scene with Chrissy on the day with Grace - which is an absolutely crucial turning point moment for both characters, in the eyes of a lot of the audience.

Reacted in-character to an unexpected touch (this is the one that still blows my freaking mind)

“Harrington’s got her. Don'tcha, big boy?” - The ad-lib that started it all! Joseph, you absolute menace, I love your silly, precious little brain.

Basically completely rewrote the entire walk-and-talk with Steve in the woods with Joe on the day, both textually and tonally

‘This kid’s gotta get his ego in check’ / ‘it’s his tone, right?’ - 100% The Joes

Learned to hot-wire (or at least convincingly fake hot-wiring) a classic 1980s Winnebago 1.) entirely without looking 2.) and all while delivering his dialogue and improv’ing one of the best and most memorable lines of the season

Insisted on: Eddie’s entire era-appropriate metalhead outfit, from the fluffy mop of hair to the white Reeboks, including his rings (which he nicked, but if you think you just read that: no, you did not, shh), his skull bandana, handcuff belt, and a number of the pins/badges on his battle vest, along with his battle vest/jacket combo

Went on a super low-carb diet in order to lose 20 pounds, which he was stuck on for the entire shoot

Got a voice coach just so he could learn how to speak at the higher register of someone much younger, also helped with his American Midwest dialect

Exhibited countless instances of on-screen hyper-reactivity (ie. intense emotional overwhelm to the point of exhibiting entirely involuntary physical symptoms, including trembling hands, frothing at the mouth, eyelid twitches, voice tremors/cracks)

Picked up the guitar again after many years of not playing and practiced his ass off to the point where Metallica asked him if he’d come out to meet them. And when he played with them, despite saying he was rusty, every one of those dudes in Metallica looked stupid impressed with him.

This. Just… this happened. This blooper moment has to go on the list, specifically because it personally made my freaking year, okay? lmao

Also, sadly, responsible for ad-libbing Eddie’s last words before his death, to his dear friend Dustybun: “I love you, man.”

ETA: Please note, I’m making this list for the purposes of people seeing precisely just how much work and time and effort went into Eddie as a character. Any comments or tags about ‘he’s just doing his job’ or ‘he didn’t do much’ are going to earn you an immediate block, because you insist on trying to downplay the painstaking level of work Joseph put into the character. Because he is at least deserving of equal credit and recognition for all the contributions he made that the Duffers didn’t think to mention to anyone. Nearly all of these bullet points, btw, were stuff mentioned by just about everyone except Joseph - they came from the hair and costuming team, co-stars, the Stranger Things writing team, and other direct sources who were there on the day. Saying Joseph is ‘just talented’ is like saying the Grand Canyon is sorta big, or Gene Kelly sure could kinda bust a move. Yeah, talent is a PART of it, but the point of this list is showing that far more is involved in creating a character like Eddie than just being really ‘talented’. It requires creativity, determination, discipline, empathy and skill. Maybe just ask yourself: why are you so insistent on denying this man his fair due? Btw, I will be updating this to add any new tidbits that people might share down the line!
