Everyone LISTEN I have come to a very important realization that is completely not delusional.

(Also don't be fooled this is purely about skilene you'll get it at the end of my rambling trust.)

So, I watched The Otter Woman episode right after The Falcone and the Snow Job okay and we all know how down bad skipper was for both Kitka and "Arlene" BUT when it was Kitka he was so down bad that he didn't even think Kitka might have kidnapped Julien despite the evidence, like sure the evidence was wrong but my point is despite EVERYTHING and EVERYONE telling him Kitka is the culprit he kept believing she wasn't. And in The Otter Woman despite being more down bad than ever the moment he realized this "Arlene" might have done something to Marlene he didn't even give "Arlene" the benefit of doubt not even slightly did he want to prove she wasn't the culprit. No, the possibility of Marlene being in danger snapped him out of it instantly. And im. So normal about this information.

we can also... clearly see in The Lost Treasure of the Golden Squirrel* how he tried to somehow save her from being kidnapped by the Rat King and how hurt he looked later when Maurice brought up that fact.

While I love Madagascar: A Little Wild, I think it's such a missed opportunity that they didn't ever include the penguins. I'm glad they still got a cameo in the final episode, but I think it would have been interesting if they had gotten more screen-time. It's not like they needed to be recurring characters or anything, but it would have been cool if there were one full episode revolving around the zoosters running into the penguins for the first time. They could have interacted, overcome some conflict together, and by the end of the episode go their separate ways, yet still knowing the others are out there.

A Complicated Past

Something I both love and hate about POM is Skipper's past. The writers gave us just enough to be curious and still know nothing. Like Denmark. We literally had an episode about Skipper resolving the problem with him being Public Enemy #1 and they never said why. The actual audacity of that is hilarious to me. All we do know about it is just the most bizarre story too. Hans betrayed him, there were open-face sandwiches, I'm fairly certain a monarch was involved, and there was a fish/sword fight. This implies that he and Hans used to be close. From Best Foes, we know that their alliance was dangerous for anyone they went against. Wish I knew what they were doing before the betrayal. Then we have him meeting Dr. Blowhole at some point. Who knows how that happened. It seems like Skipper was in the military at before since Private has even called him "The Skipper." I also think Skipper joined some type of spy organization. That's probably where he got all his aliases. The names are just something else too. Two-Bit Hood Jack the Knife. International Play Bird Diego Garcia. Wealthy Industrial Lincoln Douglas. I want to know who all of these birds are. Somehow, the most peculiar thing to me is that at some point, Skipper spent 8 years in the Mexico. HIDING. Hiding from what?? Who???!

I need these answers and the show has made it abundantly clear that I'll never receive them. So, I'm going to write a fanfic where I give Skipper a backstory.

And it's the third anniversary of season 3 of Madagascar: A Little Wild!

It's crazy to me that the first film is almost 20 years old already! Right off the bat almost all of the iconic parts of the franchise were introduced, laying the groundwork for installments yet to come. 19 years ago today we witnessed KJ first moving it, the penguins first smiling and waving, and the zoosters going on a globetrotting adventure. I hope everyone has a great Mada-versary!

I've been interested in them but I don't have almost any information. If you don't know anything, could you tell me who knows? I hope it's not too much trouble

Hi! It's not a bother at all, I'd love to tell you. However I don't know anything about them either! Off the top of my head, the person who knows might be @strangewomanactuallylargebass

I also found two comics on the internet archive, Operation: Wonder from Down Under and Operation: Weakest Link. I haven't checked them out yet, but they're there! That's probably the safest site to read them on.

Yup, I can tell you what they're all about! Like you already mentioned @lemurblog, the first set of comics was the four-issue series Operation: Wonder from Down Under. It's a tie-in to The Penguins of Madagascar show and involves the penguins helping a lost platypus get back to her home in Australia.

The next comic made was Madagascar 3: Long Live The King!, which involves two stories - one that shows what the penguins were up to the day before the zoosters arrive in Monte Carlo, and another that showcases the circus putting on one of their shows long before the events of the movie.

After that was Operation: Weakest Link & Other Stories which are a few one-shot type stories that tie into TPOM.

Then there were 3 issues of the DreamWorks Classics Presents: Madagascar comics. All three issues take place in between the first and second film, and show the zoosters getting into shenanigans with the penguins and lemurs while on Madagascar.

After that were 8 issues of the Penguins of Madagascar comics. The first four involve the penguins defeating one-off villains and trying to prove that they're better than the North Wind, while the latter four issues involve the penguins teaming up with the North Wind again in order to stop a new threat.

Lastly, there were 4 issues of the Madagascar comics. These four tell one-off stories from all around the franchise. Issue one involves Alex teaming up with Nana to stop a robber (long before the first film), issue two shows some of the zoosters' attempts at getting off Madagascar through the use of makeshift cars and boats (among other things), issue three involves Julien finally returning to Madagascar after abandoning it so long ago and having to defeat a new lemur who took the throne in his absence, and issue four shows the zoosters, chimps, and penguins leaving the zoo to help fix a batch of faulty Alex the Lion toys that got delivered to children all around the city.

I talk a bit more about my thoughts on the comics here, if you want to check that out. As for where you can read them, I know the two sets of The Penguins of Madagascar comics are available online on websites such as Read Comic Online, but make sure you have an adblocker and be careful if you do use that website. As for the rest of the comics, as best as I can tell they aren't available online, but I was able to easily secure copies of all of them through places like eBay.

Madagascar Highschool AU Comic - English version

So for those who are like me, who feel uncomfortable reading a comic where you have to go up and down up and down to read the translation, I have made a translated version of this comic where all I did is just remove the original text and replaced it with the English text provided by Pudding. There’s only one part of the art which I edited and that is Mort’s speech bubble, it was too small for the text to fit in so I made a new one, I hope Pudding doesn’t mind that :P

Seeing things like this make me so happy, knowing that we have such a wide array of characters throughout the franchise. From the films to the shorts to all the shows, there are just so many different fun corners of the Madagascar universe. We'll probably never see the different groups of characters interact on-screen, but small stuff like this is still so awesome to see.

I need a crossover between AHKJ and TPOM. I want to see Skipper interact with Clover, Kowalski with Timo, Rico with Abner and Becca, and Private with Tammy and Todd.

To elaborate, I imagine Skipper and Clover would exchange training regimes, only to start fighting over who trains the hardest. Kowalski and Timo would of course bond over their shared love of science and inventing. Abner and Becca would see Rico's appetite for destruction, and end up radicalizing him into LALA. Private would see Todd and think he's cute, only for Tammy to tell him to "put on [his] war face" which would freak Private out.

One detail I wish the films and shows had paid more attention to was the design of the zoo. Its layout and inhabitants just change so drastically from one film or show to the next. I know each piece of media just invented new animal characters to suit the story they were telling, but I think it would've been much more interesting if they had made it a bit more consistent.
