There's this nagging feeling that Noelle was implying something else when she told Susie about wanting to... "run away."

She practically confirms it in the Weird Route when she says "let's fly out of this stupid town," to proposition a suicide pact.

Noelle's derealization speech starts with "When Dess left..."

"left..."

...Back in Chapter 4, the moment Ralsei explained that Dark Worlds can sometimes manifest the dead from their remains, I knew. I've just had a gut feeling since then.

Dess is dead. She's been dead for a long time.

The Roaring Knight is still most likely to be Dess, but this may not depend on Dess being alive.

That Noelle is still searching Dess's name online, it's unclear whether she's trying to find her or any news about her case... but I'm starting to lean away from the idea that her case is still open...

Is the other reason Noelle's such a people-pleaser because of abandonment issues?

...And... if we read into "running away" as a narrative euphemism for... another kind of being gone...

...Asgore would sound crazy for trying to clear his name if Dess' disappearance was ruled a runaway case when he knew it wasn't.
