sparrow had been feeling guilty that she had remained out of touch with adri for a few weeks now. after promising her that she would be there for her, she, well,_ wasn’t_. so now was a good time to catch up with her. “okay i am so so sorry i didn’t talk to you.” the worst part was, she wasn’t sure if she even had a good excuse. “i was just here and there.” she sighed. “but i did bring you food. so im hoping that makes up for it.”

“you know it’s summer right.” her walk had a small bounce in each step as she walked over to her dad. “so why aren’t we going on vacation? we don’t even have to go anywhere on earth. we can just go to space or something. we can bring kyle, guy, adrianne and mags with us. it’ll be a cool lantern getaway.” honestly, she was getting quite bored with reading books. all of her friends seemed busy and a lot of her family was here anyways. might as well make the best of it.

she gave a dry laugh. “oh wow.” sparrow didn’t expect to win but she didn’t expect to be beaten so quickly. “good game by the way.” she almost smiled before squinting at the male. “just never say that. like ever again.”

“relax im not one for telling. unless you’re doing something illegal.” the level of defence rose in her voice but she shrugged. “i didn’t even see it anyways.”

“I’m sorry did I hit you? I really didn’t mean to.” Natalia says with a smile as she folds her wings against her back best she could. It wasn’t always easy to avoid a situation like this, but in the process of leaving the coffee shop she must have accidentally done it while turning to leave. She slowly moves to face the other though as she hopes for the best.

“you did but it’s fine. accidents happen.” she smiled. the other brunette didn’t need sparrow to make her feel any more awkward and sorry than she actually was. besides her coffee was miraculously still in the cup for the most part. apart from a few drops which was going to happen. “don’t apologise, trust me.”

“Y’really gonna run t’daddy and tell him I was bein’ mean? C’mon, you wanna lose your best shot at masterin’ that thing?” Guy says with a laugh, though he’s not all too worried about it. He’s known Sparrow since the girl was so young, and despite his and Hal’s differences she’s still family. There’s nothing in the universe she wouldn’t do for her.

“You bet your life he did, y’better not forget it.” Guy laughs as he creates a hand construct to shoot over and nudge Sparrow gently. He means it, though - she’s doing a great job for someone who’s trying to adjust to using one fo the best but most difficult rings. “Yeah you can, it’s just gonna take some practice. Y’want me to switch back to green? You should get a pretty good power boost if I do, at least then you can practice flyin’ around.”

“oh please guy. if i ran to dad every time you said something rude or you were being a jerk, i could compete in the olympics with how strong my legs would become from the running.” she scoffed but knew that he was just kidding around. “and no actually. you’re a pretty great teacher and i wouldn't have gotten this far without your help.”

she just laughed at his comment and shook his head at him. but did get back into her ‘hero zone’ as she called it whenever she needed to use her ring. and with as much concentration and hope she could muster she aimed and tried to blast it. only for her too miss about 3 metres to the left. “see? and you’re the teacher. if you think it’ll help then you do you guy. i just need to practice.”

marisol wasn’t very familiar with sparrow. she knew who her parents were and that it immediate made her family with adrianne. while adrianne was marisol’s friend… sometimes it felt like they were a bit MORE or could be a bit more and so she felt this NEED to do good. “ i think that would be fun , actually ! “ marisol nodded. “ what– what did you have in mind ? “

it was weird in the way that sparrow had approached her. she had literally shown up, out of the blue ( excuse the pun ) and had expected marisol to get along with her or hang out with her with no regard for the fact that she had a life. but as always with the blue lantern in training, she never did it on purpose. “we could go to a concert or something? that’s always fun.”

“I knew you would be. It may not make up for it, but this is a start.” Hal says with a grin, knowing that they were just joking around of course. It felt good to be back here though, and he wraps an arm around her. “It’s good to be back, I missed you every second I was gone the last three weeks.” He says with a smile. “How about you update me on everything I’ve missed?”

“i don’t even care that you took ages to get here. all i care is that you’re here.” the smile on her face keeps growing bigger even when she’s sipping her drink. “what did the corp even have you do anyway? i tried getting in contact but i got busy.” she shrugged sheepishly. but if her dad was in deep space then the lack of communications would make sense. “uh kyle, adrianne, guy and mags are here. so almost full house. steve rogers got shot. other than that, same old, same old.”

“You have so much faith in me, Sparrow. I don’t think I have the money to shop in the finest places New York has to offer.” She says with a giggle, but she hopes Sparrow understands how grateful she is from the smile on her face. It’s not.. easy to be here when she knows she looks different, she will always look different. There’s no hiding her eyes, even if she can keep her ears from view. She just hopes Sparrow is right. “You’re the best, you know that? I’ll tell you, I promise. Hopefully things just - stay this way.”

“it’s kinda my thing.” she shrugged but the smile never left her face. “oh neither do i but you know what doesn’t cost? going inside and trying everything on and pretending you can afford them. or you know, ride the coat tails of someone rich.” and she erupted into laughter at her own joke. sparrow’s done this many times because if no one else would laugh at her jokes then she would. “i kinda already did but the compliment’s always nice. and things will stay this way. one thing i’ve noticed is that people generally don’t mock other’s appearances.”

“so have you come to pride on your own or are you on a solo adventure like me?” haley was a little hard for the blue lantern in training to spot in the crown but never the less she found her. “because if you’re soloing this then i’m here to turn it into a duo.” sparrow smiled as she linked arms with the blonde. “but if you’re not, i can leave.” she was wearing a simple shirt and jeans with her t shirt being dipped dyed to fit the pansexual colours. she even considered wearing a rainbow wig but she opted for rainbow makeup instead, especially on the eyelids. “having fun right?”
