(from top left to bottom right) stroganoff; my first ever furby, kieltolaki; one of my four punks. her name translates to prohibition, harriet; named after harriet turtle from franklin, and pitsiverho; her name translates to lace curtain

babies

päivänsäde and menninkäinen, both named after the song päivänsäde ja menninkäinen by tapio rautavaara. their names translate to sunshine/sunray and gnome/elf

buddies

rotta; the only one of these four i didnt buy from a flea market for less than a euro :D her name translates to a rat, arkkienkeli; this one still needs some paint on their face and at least two pairs of wings. their name translates to archangel, jaloviina; his name is a finnish brand of cut cognac, and neptunus

2005s

lahopää-liisa and ritva, a pair of gossiping old ladies. lahopää-liisa is a song by the finnish band leevi and the leavings, lahopää (lit. rotten head) meaning someone scatterbrained and/or stupid, and liisa being a traditional finnish female name. ritva is also a finnish female name, most common with women in their 50s and 60s.

mdonalds furbs

väriteoria; color theory, mielikki; one of my favorite customs i have made. her name is a very old finnish female name and a common cow name, kosmos, ratsia; she is named after a finnish punk band with the same name. the name translates to a raid/roundup/bust/crackdown according to the translator i use, dystopia, valonkantaja; her name translates to the one carrying the light, but it basically means the devil, sielunvihollinen; enemy of the soul, another word for the devil, louhi; or loviatar, the matriarch of pohjola and the queen of death in finnish mythology, rujo, rampa and perisokea; the three children of louhi

2012s and 2013s

mr boombastic, osteri-ossi; he is named after a finnish soap opera salatut elämät character. osteri translates to oyster, juudas iskariot; his name is just the finnish spelling of judas iscariot, and leningrad; my favorite one of these four

plushies

sukkula venukseen; she is named after a song by the finnish artist kikka. the name translates to a shuttle to venus, ananasakäämä; his name is a magic word, like abracadabra, osmotar; goddess of beer and beermaking, and syntikkapoppi; their name translates to synth pop, but also synti means sin in finnish. they are missing a couple of their teeth rn and i havent gotten around to fixing them

long furbies

propaganda; the first furby i have longified. she is only about 90 cm long, lötkö; i cant think of a translation that really matches the feeling of the word lötkö, but its something like limp, sloppy or droopy. he is about 180 cm long, and toveri viljanen; she is named after a finnish labor-movement song balladi toveri viljasesta (a ballad about comrade viljanen). i havent measured her but i guess she is about 2,5 m long

she has been washed

i have never skinned a furby before but it was surprisingly easy. she was EXTREMELY dirty – the bathwater was brown on the first two soaks – but most of the grime came off pretty easily. theres still something stuck in her hair but i dont care, it can be easily hidden. her eyelids were really dirty too so i scrubbed them with a magic eraser and her face is almost as good as new now!

she has been given her skin back but i havent sewn the couple of ear stitches back yet so shes not looking her best right now

my newest project! shes VERY dirty and gross but my plan is to clean her up and customize her a little bit

when i say "furby' i don't just mean the full bots, so plushies, furblets, figurines, mcdonalds toys, etc all count. count handmade/oddbody/fake furbs in the count even if you own "official" furbys as well.

ex. two bots, one plush, three mcdonalds toys, and a long furby would be seven total furbs.

the girls 💕 i added some accessories to the pink one and gave both of them lashes and i think im happy with them for now. they dont have names yet and i havent decided if im naming them after leevi and the leavings songs like i have been doing recently so im taking name suggestions!!

the second furby i made from scratch!! i did not think i could manage to make her look this good. she is only a bit wonky and i made the pattern bigger this time so her face isnt as big compared to her body. i also made the ears a bit different than furby ears usually are and i think it really suits her.

my first furb i made from scratch! she is a bit wonky and looks like she has a hangover but im pretty happy with how she turned out. i made the faceplate with fimo clay and used a fur coat from a flea market for the body. im going to add some more details later, but i started making another flea-market-fur-coat-furby so she can wait.

does anybody know where i could get 3d printed furby faceplates for a reasonable price? i live in finland, so the ones on etsy cost more than an original 1998 furby when the shipping costs are added.

I had a similar problem over here in Germany. I haven't been able to find a cheap one myself (they are made by artists after all).

What i ended up doing was sculpting one myself out of air dry clay. When you break the shapes down it is not too hard to do (first the base, than spheres cut in half as eyeballs, thin sheets as eyelids, half sphere/quater spheres as a beak, etc.). It won't look like a furby that has moving parts or a bunch of sculpted details but it is a very cheap option.

Though a huge downside to this is the weight and (especially with air dry clay) the fragile nature of it all. Alternatively you could sculpt a faceplate and make a silicon mold to later fill with resin, which is much more durable and lighter. I do not have any experience with that though, so you gotta do your own research on that...

What i can also think of is making a more flat/2D faceplate out of felt (I want to try that for a plush myself). I think I've seen people do that on here but it obviously looks much different from an actual faceplate.

I'm sorry for making this very long, because it might not be exactly what you are looking for, but these are some methods I have seen people use.
