why is no one talking about sakura’s dad???
❛ Is everything okay? ❜
° • ? ( QUESTION SENTENCE STARTERS.
“Yeah, everything’s fine,” Sakura insisted, attempting to grin even with her face flushed from a very obvious fever. She felt an itch in her throat, urging her to cough, but she held it in. She couldn’t be getting a cold. She had too much to do today, damn it. “It’s just--- Really hot today, isn’t it?” the pinkette deflected, wiping sweat from her brow despite a cool breeze. She squinted slightly as she looked up to him, almost certain she was seeing double Sasukes for a moment.

❛ How is that working out for you? ❜
° • ? ( QUESTION SENTENCE STARTERS.
Jumping at the sudden voice from behind, Sakura failed (for the seventh time) to balance the scrolls in her hands, one slipping between her fingers and hitting the floor. “Oh… I just— ugh,” she groaned as another dropped, hitting the tip of her boot and rolling further down the hall. It just wasn’t her day. “---Not as well as I hoped…” she admitted, with a sigh. They weren’t heavy by any means, she’d carried more than this, but their shape made it hard to keep them all together. “I look ridiculous, don’t I?”

Between work and classes, Sakura had gotten into the bad habit of walking home alone at night. Considering who she was, it wasn’t like she couldn’t take care of herself... but she’d rather not have to be in the situation to have to in the first place.---Annoyingly enough, her hope for a quiet night looked to end when she cut through the back alley to her apartment only to see the dark outline of a figure in her path. Frowning, she squared her stance and glared at the stranger, unsure yet if this person was anything to worry about. "Who are you?" With any luck, it would just be some blubbering drunk that she could slip by, but one could never be too safe.
uchihaheiress:
Her onyx eyes slowly opened wide as what her mother said set in. The twenty year old gulped, looking down at her stomach, placing her left hand over her lower abdomen. Her engagement ring glistened under the florescent lights of the examination room. She bit her lower lip, taking in a deep breath. Shock was an understatement as to how she felt.
“H-How is this possible?” Her dark eyebrows furrowed as she twirled the ring around her third finger with her thumb. It was a nervous habit she had slowly developed. “We’ve always been so careful…” Her mind was racing, “I’m on the pill… Hell, I make him wear a condom even with that…” Sarada snapped her head up, tears forming in her eyes, “The wedding is in two months. I already have the dress picked out…”
“Mama… What do I do? We wanted to wait to have kids until a few years after the wedding. Until we knew that we were sure… What if this is too much for Boruto to handle?” A single tear from each eye fell down her cheeks, “W-What if Boruto decides to leave me? He comes back from his mission with Papa tonight…”
Growing up with her father not around until she was eleven, Sarada had slight abandonment fears. Not having Boruto by her side was one of them.
Sakura knew that worry all too well... the hesitation and fear were feelings that she had gone through herself (though for a different reason). She hadn’t been sure that she was ready to be a mother, considering how busy her life was. She was very aware that with how much time Sasuke spent away from the village on average that it was likely she’d be doing a majority of the parenting on her own. Giving birth to Sarada outside of the village had been a whirl wind as well... but her husband had seen her through both times. Sasuke tended to ground her about just as much as she grounded him, and she had a feeling the same could be said for her daughter and soon to be son-in-law.
At the question, Sakura inhaled and looked into her daughter’s eyes. She could see her overthinking---working herself up... and she wasn’t surprised. This was her daughter after all. “No contraceptive is 100% effective against pregnancy, don’t you remember me telling you that?” she reminded her in a calm voice. As rare as it was for both the pill and the condom to fail... it was possible. “You won’t show much within the first trimester...” She knew this was just the surface of what was bothering the ravenette, but she kept patient and let the girl continue. It was so much for her to process... a baby so close to a wedding. Sakura could understand.
At her daughter’s next words, however, Sakura tutted, getting up from her chair just as the young adult's tear broke through. Hands going to Sarada’s face, the mother sat at the edge of observation bed beside her and used her thumb to wipe the tear away. “Shhh, shhhh,” she coaxed, pulling her daughter into a tight hug, her heart aching at the sight of her pain. “Come now...” Sakura sniffed, trying to keep her own emotions from bubbling up as she forced a strength to her voice, “Is that who you think you said yes to marrying?” she questioned, rubbing Sarada’s back. “A man who would run away from the woman he loves at the mention of a surprise baby?”
Sakura closed her eyes and hugged Sarada even tighter. “I know you’re scared... but you know Boruto is not that type of man. Do you think your father and I would have given our blessing for this wedding if he was? Do you think Naruto and Hinata would have raised someone like that?--- You agreed to marry Boruto because of who he is. So you have to trust that he will never abandon you, or this small person growing inside of you.”
konohasuchiha:
“It’s supposed to be in your own words on what you noticed.” Sasuke pointed out seeming a little hesitant. He didn’t want his report altered to far. Besides, what detail could easily be lost? Sasuke likes details okay, he likes all the details. Details are important.
Sakura let out a short small laugh at his words. While she could understand his concern, she wasn’t planning to take over his precious report. She was just trying to offer a bit of help. "That doesn't mean having someone proofread is a bad thing,” she insisted, holding out her hand in case he finally decided to let her do just that. "It would just be getting someone's opinion, you don't have to change anything if you don't want to," Sakura added, green eyes staring at him patiently.
{ a bit of a mix up }
Sakura discreetly rolled her shoulders back, a satisfying crack helping to release a lot of the tension that had built up there over the last few hours. Her morning had been full of operations and the last few hours had filled the rest of her time at her desk, pouring over paperwork. As one could imagine, she was exhausted... but this was nothing new. She had always been a bit of a work-a-holic (maybe more than “a bit”). In any case, her work day was almost over, she just had to drop a few things off to Naruto and then she’d be done for the day. Sarada was likely waiting for her at home, so she didn’t plan on making her daughter wait too much longer.
The walk to the Hokage Tower was peaceful, or well, as peaceful as a bustling city could be. Even all this time it felt strange... Konoha had grown and expanded so much... and honestly, it was hard to even think of it as a “village” anymore. Technically she was walking down the same street she had walked down all her life... and while it did feel familiar it also felt foreign. There were so many faces, not all of which she recognized. The small town where everyone knew almost everyone didn’t really exist anymore. Though truly, with how many times it had been re-built, none of the Konoha she had grown up with existed anymore. There was still an essence of it, of course, but it was just... different.
---And not a bad kind of different, mind you. Sakura had enjoyed the new additions to her home... and she’d even given her two cents on a few of them when asked. This was just her reminiscing. She tended to do that a lot lately.... maybe she was getting old? (Kami forbid).
Upon entering the tower, Sakura was informed that Naruto was out of the office. It was a bit disappointing, considering she had wanted to speak to her old teammate... but she knew he was even busier than she was, so it wasn’t all too surprising. She decided she’d just put the paperwork somewhere on his desk---if she could find a spot in all those mounds he usually had on it. It wasn’t too time sensitive so she’d leave a note and check back in the morning. Maybe even bring him some soldier pills since he was always working himself passed the point of exhaustion.
Sighing to herself, the pinkette opened the door to the Hokage’s office. Having expected it to be empty, she frowned at the presence of another person. Her frown instantly turned into open mouthed shock as she stared at the young genin before her.
It was very hard for Sakura not to notice her younger self, considering their very distinct characteristics. She had never met another person with bright pink hair... and her red clothing with her family’s symbol kind of gave it away. Her mind instantly went to this being some kind of genjutsu, but instantly discarded it. She knew what one felt like and this wasn’t it... besides, what point would there be of using her genin self?
Sakura’s second guess was that she was that she was more tired than she thought, but again she threw away the idea. She was tired, yes, but she wasn’t hallucinating. This person before her seemed too real. So the question then became---“What are you doing here?” Granted, she had many questions, but there would be no use spouting them all out at once. “I wouldn’t touch that,” she added, seeing the curiosity the girl held for the computer.
But for Real This Time!
Ok. So, I know I was like “I’m gonna finally hit these drafts” days ago---maybe a week??, and then continued my radio silence after only finishing a few.---But I’m really actually gonna get to them now. Unfortunately, I tend to go through periods of time where I can’t bring myself to write. Not because I don’t want to (I always want to write it’s my passion) but I just... idk sometimes don’t have the will to? I don’t know if that makes sense... but anyways I did try but I wasn’t really liking anything I was writing, so it was probably for the best. My crap job wasn’t really helping my mood much either, unfortunately. In any case, I just got off of an actually pretty ok day of work, so I’m gonna chill for an hour or two then I’ll get started. Between tonight and tomorrow I’m aiming to have it all done, so let’s see how far I get. Haha.

konohanotenten:
Her eyes rose to meet Sakura’s, an almost invisible smile starting to appear on her lips.
“Nah, it’s fine, I’ll come up with more surprises!” Tenten said, determined. It had been a well thought-out plan, but executed quite poorly, now that she analyzed it. It was unfortunate, but at least she could ask what kinds of customization her comrade preferred, and maybe create something even better!
Or maybe her sensei’s constant optimism was finally getting to her.
“I just didn’t think you’d be so freaked out about it. I mean, if it was me, of course, I’d beat up anyone who dared touch my weapons,” She had done it a few times before, and people learned to stay away from her pouch, one of her most precious possessions. Legend had it that the poor guy couldn’t leave the hospital for a week. “But you’re not a Bukijutsu user, so…”
“And yeah, Naruto’s your teammate… I thought it’d work.” The kunoichi sighed, her frown slowly turning into an amused expression, followed by laughter “Please tell me he at least tried.”
Despite Tenten’s attempt to make it seem like it wasn’t a big deal, Sakura still felt bad. From what it sounded like, the brunette had put in a lot of effort into the surprise and Sakura had ruined it. It was nice to see that Tenten wasn’t too torn up about it, at the very least, but still. Sakura sighed with the ghost of a smile and shook her head. “I’d say you don’t have to go to all the trouble… but something tells me I won’t convince you much.” Her smiled widened and she closed her eyes in mild exasperation. “How did I get so lucky to have such a good friend?”
Scratching her head, Sakura sweatdropped. Now that she felt so silly it was kind of hard to justify her actions. “Well, it wasn’t so much the weapons….“ She admitted, able to elaborate more now that she had calmed down. "I left my father’s necklace in there.” When she had to do work at the hospital, she tended to take it off for safe keeping… It may have looked like a simple trinket but it was important. Granted, she didn't really think it made up for her actions all that much.
At the comment about Naruto, Sakura gave a small laugh. “It was a good thought, but I can usually tell when Naruto is lying to me. He’s easy to read.” Or maybe she was just usually very good at intimidating the truth out of him.... either way, it hadn't worked out so well. The pinkette nodded a bit guiltily at Tenten's question. “He did… but I may have gotten a little handsy with him…” While it wasn't unusual for Sakura to rough Naruto up a bit, there tended to be a good reason for it. This time, however, she guessed she owned him a bit of an apology.
❛ I wouldn’t hurt you like the world did me. ❜ -Ren ((or anyone else if you prefer))
assorted p!nk lyric starters
“I…” Sakura looked up at the man before her with a sharp intake of breath. She hadn’t noticed Ren there… nor had she realized how she’d been wearing her thoughts so openly. Sitting on a park bench alone looking down trodden made her feel a bit pathetic… but his words warmed her heart a little bit. “…I know… I guess I just overthink things too much,” she said sincerely, a small smile finding its way onto her face, if only briefly. Moving over, she made room for him on the bench and patted the now empty space, should he wish to sit down. A question forming on her lips, Sakura peered into his uncovered eye. “…How did… How did it hurt you?—The world, I mean.” He didn’t have to answer if he didn’t want to, but she could use the company either way.
