Life update: no longer a student 🤷🏽‍♀️

Hello to anyone who is seeing this! I haven’t logged into my study Tumblr in a very long time... Since the last time I posted, I graduated from my MPH program where I studied infectious disease epidemiology. I now work full time doing epidemiologic, health care, and public health research at a major health care system. Needless to say, study-related topics aren’t my biggest interests these days and I spend most of my free time just trying to maintain balance in my life and letting my brain turn to mush before I return back to work each day. I will say that I’m grateful for the experience I had using Tumblr to get study inspiration, and perhaps inspire others as well. Now I can look back on my Tumblr and remember what I was up to during my last months of college and before starting grad school. I hope all of you will reach all of your goals and that once you do, you’ll look back on your own Tumblrs with fondness and good memories. Wishing you all the very, very best! ❤️

I made this printable so I would have the functionality of the spread I made without the hassle of drawing all these boxes every week, and I thought I would share this with you guys too!

How to Use

The top margin is larger so you can write a header in whatever way you prefer.

The numbers above each day’s box represent hours - so if you have something from 3 to 4, shade between those numbers. I like to color code for each event, especially on days with multiple events.

Each day’s box is meant to be used like a bullet journal - you can write tasks, events, notes etc.

The trackers can be for habits, mood, sleep, food, menstrual cycles, whatever you like. The weekdays are written, but the rest is up to you. 

The to do list is fairly self explanatory.

18/100 days of intentional things

i studied, worked out and cleaned my room today! i also had some popcorn and continued to read an enchantment of ravens, so nice.

last week i ended my cbt (cognitive behavioural therapy). it was hard to do since i really wanted therapy. the person that treated me basically told me that i shouldnt tell myself that i have adhd because “im smart and nothing like them” and that i dont have adhd because she couldnt tell i had it when she looked at me. first of all, adhd has nothing, absolutely nothing to do with how smart you are. if anyone tells you otherwise, theyre either uneducated, ableist or ignorant (usually its a combination of all three). second of all, i have an official diagnosis which means that i am one of them, which in turn means she views me as lesser than people who dont have adhd. third, how the HECK can you tell if someone has adhd by looking at them? are we supposed to wear a special adhd garment or something? maybe she is psychic who specialises in distinguishing people with adhd?? someone should tell the swedish government because theyd save so much money on diagnosing people lmao

in all seriousness: hearing all of this did not only hurt my feelings, it showed how unfit she was to treat anyone in need of cbt. she was a psychologist- a mental health professional, for heavens sake- she, if anyone, should know what adhd means. that whole thing really made my energy levels low and thats why ive been a bit absent on here.

Today was the first day in 10 days that I didn’t have a quiz or a test therefore I didn’t do anything other than the bare minimum and idk why that guilts me

I had a very nice day though!! I’m just sad that I can’t go home early like all my friends are for Chinese New Year because I have a mandatory lab section and class until 4:30pm hrrrrhh

Anyways there’s a fourth year biochemistry major researcher in the lab I work in and she’s looKING FOR SOMEONE TO REPLACE HER WHEN SHE GRADUATES AND I was thinking about asking her about the research position bUT TURNS OUT STUDYBUDDY ALSO KNOWS HER and he talked to her about her position anD HE SAID THERES A GOOD CHANCE SHES GONNA GIVE IT TO ME

how to avoid education burnout

have 3 achievable goals a day: having a laundry list of things to do everyday is super unrealistic, and you just end up feeling bad about yourself because you didn’t accomplish your goals for the day.

leave your sundays open: i love sundays because they’re my day to chill out and catch up on school work that i wasn’t able to finish during the week.

recognize when you’re at your emotional limits: forcing yourself to get work done when you are unable to comprehend your study material does not benefit anyone.

learn how to say no: people will ask you for your time and it will stretch you to the limit, whether it be at your job, in your extracurriculars, or in your personal life. know when to step back and say no.

take care of yourself physically: take breaks, go for walks, shower regularly, get enough sleep, eat healthy, see your friends

celebrate your accomplishments: go out to eat with friends after a big exam, indulge in a night off after a busy week with some netflix and wine

make a study plan beforehand: it can be daunting to see how much work you need to put in to a class or task beforehand, but this allows you to spread your work evenly so you don’t become overwhelmed.

learn how to ask for help: it is very rare that people make it through school, whether it be high school or university or any graduate program, without needing the advice of others or just a kind soul to vent to. find that person.

never forget your hobbies: you will need things that keep you sane. if you love to play music, write, play volleyball, or cook, make you sure you don’t lose these things. they will become your escape when times get tough.

log off from time to time: it is exhausting to be constantly connected to social media and your email. just physically disconnecting from these for a night to take care of yourself can really help you clear your mind.

dailies

make your bed. (no, really.)

set your top 3 to-dos for the day.

do your top 3 to-dos for the day. (heh)

stretch.

unpack your bag when you get home.

prepare your things for the next day before sleeping.

skincare. (your basic cleanse and moisturize)

sweep the floor of your bedroom.

talk to your plants. (if you have plants)

update your financial report/expense tracker.

take a good photo.

meditate.

hug at least three people. (seriously.)

weeklies

polish your school shoes.

mop your bedroom floor.

dare i say, laundry. (don’t put it off!)

exfoliate.

take a leisure walk.

review your past week and plan your next week accordingly. (a part of your routine may not be working–try something new)

make a piece of art. (a sketch, a collage, a quote in pretty lettering, a god-awful poem..)

sanitize your gadgets. (whip out the wet tissue and wipe away at your phone, your laptop, your mouse, your earphones–just don’t forget to IMMEDIATELY follow that up with a dry cloth to prevent fogging and short circuits)

watch a TED Talk.

make a new playlist.

monthlies

wash your bag.

wash your shoes.

change the sheets of your bed and your pillows.

clip your nails. (honestly)

wax/shave. (if you want. i just really like how fresh my skin feels after i torture it with razors and wax strips)

wipe your shelves/the tops of your furniture clean. (try to avoid dusting. it just scatters the dirt everywhere. use a damp cloth instead)

see if there’s anything in your storage that you don’t need/want anymore and give stuff away or sell them.

review your month and plan the next one accordingly. (just like your weeks. remember to refer to your Life Goal/Year’s Goals page)

finish reading at least one book. (and review it!)

discover new songs.
