yeah theres no way to stop using amazon completely because they own so many things and many websites use them for hosting, but audible is something we really dont need. amazon is already trying to replace public libraries with “audible amazon libraries” and we cant let that happen. your libraries are already payed for with taxes ((though normally way underfunded because politicians normally dont care enough)) 

use libby or overdrive for audiobooks or ebooks, support libraries and buy from their used books sale (ive scored so many awesome books, and old books! as well as some great cds and movies) , and many libraries also mail out books!! theres so many options and libraries are always changing to make themselves more accessible for everyone, so support them! theyre such an important part of your community.

also you can just ask for your library to order a book if they dont have it, or they can borrow it from neighboring libraries in your county or even other counties depending on the place! libraries are the best and when i was homeless they were one of the best resources i could have asked for with free ac, wifi, good bathrooms, and books books books ad well as so many other resources, groups, clubs, events … please support your local library!

I try and try and try to explain to my mom that if she needs help finding information, there is a library 5 blocks from her house, with these living saints called librarians. I swear to god I nearly cry every time she says “but I wouldn’t want to bother them”… Never, in my whole life have I ever walked up to the desk in a library and had even the impression they couldn’t be bothered with my idiot interest of the week.

Bother us! Please bother to talk to your library staff! Request books, inter-library loan books! Check out books/cds/dvd/comics/magazines/ etc! We live on stats we have to use those stats to explain our budgets. Need free wifi? Come on down!

And while you’re there ask about free tickets or passes to museums or sports events. Libraries have those too. Or check out the various programs. Did you just have a baby? There is story time. Are you at home with a toddler? Check out Tots time. Movie nights! Presentations and Talks! Creative classes! Language classes!

Libraries host tons of these events. Vast majority of the time they are FREE Please check them out!

my wall got repainted, which was the perfect excuse to redecorate it. might add more stuff soon, but i already love how it turned out.

finals start in less than a month so it’s full speed ahead from now on. already finished an assignment due in june this weekend (what’s happening?!) so i can fully focus on those dreaded finals.

besides time management, if there’s one piece of advice I can give to students cramming for exams/ just having a lot on their plate its to put away your shit when you’re done with it. if you can, leave your work at work. tidy up your workspace when you’re ready to turn in for the night. close your textbooks and put your notes away. close all of the tabs on your computer after a long day of essay writing- even if you know you’re going to have to open them again tomorrow morning. at the end of your work/study session, the best way to relax is to clear out your physical, and in turn, mental space. as soon as it’s done, keep it out of sight and out of mind.
