Some time ago, I stopped thinking "wouldn't it be cool to do these things?" and just started doing them. I recommend it.
The biggest life changing lightbulb moment in my life was this realization that I can just DO THINGS
Like, I think of something that needs to be done or I want to do, and I can do it right then and there or make plans to do that thing in the future. I am very aware this does not work for all brains. I'm just letting you know that knowing that I am in control of my own actions/permissions is extremely useful information for me.
Example: Roommates and I are all sitting around after dinner on our phones, and one person mentions maybe doing a pottery class together. Instead of everybody agreeing and then nothing ever happening, I can look up local pottery classes for beginners, and we can book the spots right then. Wow! We've successfully made plans and set and date and will have a great time!
yesss this is what I'm saying!
I posted this because I thought (for the 10,000th time in 20 years) about getting a tattoo and then was like, well then go get one?

These pescatarian birds are directly exposed to PFAS contamination due to the island's position near the St. Lawrence Seaway.
Over fifty years of data show a peak in PFAS (also known as "forever chemicals") content in seabird eggs in the 90s, followed by a decrease as regulations went into effect. The most recent findings show a 70% decrease of most common PFAS.
While continued vigilance a regulation is needed, this data indicates that regulations are working to reduce PFAS concentrations in marine ecosystems.
Yes!!!! I did a review of literature on PFASs in human drinking water about half a year ago, and there is a lot of really good progress! Please celebrate this, please don't let this solution be forgotten (at least so quickly) as the ozone layer or acid rain.
We are making genuine progress! Producers are dramatically altering how much they use PFAS and how much gets released in effluent, but also there's a lot better understanding of how to remove PFAS from the environment!
Environmental problems CAN BE SOLVED.

A new view of life in the deep sea 🪼📸🤖🌊
An international team of researchers has discovered more than two dozen new marine species during a recent expedition led by Schmidt Ocean Institute and MBARI Adjunct Karen Osborn off the coast of Brazil in the tropical South Atlantic Ocean.
Scientists aboard R/V Falkor (too) used advanced imaging technologies developed by MBARI's Bioinspiration Lab and other collaborators to study delicate midwater animals in their natural habitat. MBARI's innovative DeepPIV and EyeRIS systems allowed the team to capture detailed 3D visualizations of delicate deep-sea drifters.
Images from Schmidt Ocean Institute’s ROV SuBastian were added to the FathomVerse app while the expedition was still underway to crowd-source identification labels for midwater animals, inviting anyone from around the world to take part in ocean exploration as it happened.
These emerging technologies are transforming our ability to explore the deep, providing researchers with new tools for collecting data about life and ecosystems that remain shrouded in mystery.
MBARI research and technology are answering fundamental questions about the ocean’s depths. The information we collect with our peers will help guide decision-making about the future of the ocean to safeguard life on our blue planet.
Learn more about this exciting expedition on our website. And don't forget to update your FathomVerse app to access all the new features in FathomVerse 3.0.
