i was fine when i nearly failed math but when i lost a sheet of paper i legitimately had a full blown panic attack whsjdjsk

It’s a safer outlet. 

You’re anxious about big things but if you acknowledge them they can overwhelm you, but being anxious about little things is okay because you can ultimately back away and remind yourself that losing a piece of paper or a pen doesn’t really matter. It gives you a way to experience the anxiety you’ve got built up, but it gives you a way to back it down again, too. 

Whereas if you ever let yourself really think about your trauma, or your late bills, or how close you are to losing your job, or whatever it is that’s stressing you out for real, you might not be able to stop. 

The smaller things make us freak out because they’re safer, because we know they don’t matter.
