Ask me about my troll's ancestor!
A Maiden’s Farewell (Oneshot, potential open)
Alternian-Gensokyans are new to the fold of Gensokyo. Very foreign. Often derided. But many have a respectable quality of loyalty towards their adopted land and admirable traits that are not common of their Outside World brethren. Taishi is no exception to this, especially considering is fully raised and only known this land for her life.
Many of the second generation of her kind are being trained, educated, or perhaps indoctrinated into what would be the closest equivalent to Gensokyo’s Templars, ever preparing for the day they must cross the border and fight.
Not that is a bad thing, not to Taishi at all. She instinctively enjoys these sort of … ideas.
She had been instructed by her own elders to respect those who already live here. Most of all, respect both The Shrine Maiden and The Mistress of the Borders, for which without their permission, they would not be here. Or alive.
As of current, she only notices Reimu kneeling quietly. Taishi herself, does the same instinctively. The half-troll reaches over to read the inscription of the gravemarker– the same surname of the Maiden. Her reading is at least decent, but likewise, is unable to read the rest of the headstone.
“… Honorable Hakurei … is who sleeps here, Your Ancestor?… in my kind’s parlance?”
Reimu rose to her feet and wiped the tears from her eyes, turning to hear the new voice. It was still quite obvious that she had been crying for a little while, with the ground stained with her tears. She turned to this woman, a member of a species that had immigrated to Gensokyo for their safety. She had to show her some dignity.
“Ah… yes. That is my mother. The previous Hakurei shrine maiden, Megumi Hakurei. She died protecting me from a youkai who dared tresspass onto shrine grounds with the intent of breaking down the Great Border. If I hadn’t been playing outside, she’d still walk among us…”
Reimu placed her hand on the headstone, frowning softly.
“Tell me, what is your name?”
“Taishi ... Taishi Tysato.” she responds with an austere yet reverent expression, still staring at the gravemarker for some time. The half-oni is not familiar with the Hakurei family line; she still has yet to hit those type of classes with Gensokyan history, so she listens intently as well on her story.
“.... Your Ancestor sounds like a caring and honorable ... mother ...”
She tries to think on if she has heard about the Mother Hakurei. Of course, her mind had to mesh with the idea that families do actually exist and their kind is still trying to get used to such clusterings.
"... has your family presided the land over the ages?”

A Maiden’s Farewell (Oneshot, potential open)
“Mother? …It’s me, your child. How long has it been since we last spoke?”
x
Reimu stood facing a lonely headstone, in a lonely field. The given name had faded with time, due to exposure to the elements, but two kanji could be made out. The kanji for ‘Hakurei’. She was holding flowers. Flowers that were soon placed in a nearby vase. She had already cleaned the grave and pulled all weeds.
“I am doing well. I have lived an interesting life so far. I am sorry it’s taken me so long to properly visit you again, and I have no good excuse. Please, forgive me..”
Reimu fell to her knees, and prayed, tears streaming down her face, as a familiar figure watched from very far away. From the roof of her own shrine.
It was Yukari Yakumo.

“…”
Who had come to shed tears of her own.

So
I wanna see some more TROLL SUBSPECIES that have been created in the community. I only know of maybe 1 - 2 (Tryads and Bugskins) subspecies and I would like to know more!
If anyone has any links of different subspecies they can show me laying around, could you show me? ;o; It can be your own or someone elses!
Send an “Ѡ” for my muse’s reaction to being sent accidental nudes.
Draft Two
God. Damn. It took half a day to revise and write this as I wanted to separate out my fantroll/youkai Taishi Tysato ( subversivesaint ) description from the setting where she comes from.
Yes this was written in the style of a Civilization V … civilization. To just rub it in, here is the Civ V Brave New World music to mess with you– kind of give a visualization of what kind of background (and universe) she comes from. Though … It is actually the goal of my muse … and well, she’s gotta get to that by overcoming her shortcomings: her sour attitude, bitter self-hating, immaturity, and a host of other things.
So there is a 2015 version and a 2065 version.
This thread with redandwhitereimu is an example of the 2065 version.
(Also for the record I like Baba Yetu of Civ 4 better– When video game music gets sung everywhere far beyond the game, just. Wow.)

Greetings and blessings be upon you Sei-i Taishogun Taishi Tysato, leader of the Divine Land of Gensokyo. The Shrine Maiden Reimu Hakurei has appointed you as the Head of the Hakurei Shogunate as a last resort action of an incident that nearly tore the land apart. It is your unwavering love and dedication to the Land of Illusions and Fantasy that resolved The First Contact Incident of 2063. Instead of annihilation, you brought order to a chaotic Gensokyo and Outside World.
For more than 150 years, Gensokyo isolated itself from the Outside World through the creation of Great Hakurei Barrier in 1885. The land became the home of enlightened oni, youkai, trolls, humans, Lunarians, and many others seeking escape, sanctuary, and asylum from a faithless and hostile Outside World. Through this, the wise people of your nation have created a model culture that “… sought not the bounty of objects, but the bounty of the heart.”
The Hakurei Shrine created a system of conflict resolution known as the Spell Card Contract which brought balance, beauty, and peace between all your peoples. With this peace, your people became a creative, passionate, and colorful culture. They composed awe inspiring music, created countless works of the arts and letters, and mastered the arcane– all of which to this day drives the imagination of innumerable artists, musicians, philosophers, and magicians.
The Outside World’s discovery of faster-than-light travel in 2063 and the subsequent First Contact Incident allowed the land of Gensokyo to unseal itself safely. The prospects of interstellar travel has brought to the gods, spirits, and youkai an nigh infinite source of faith, bringing no need to hide nor fear of being endangered.
Humanity’s path of darkness and war ravaged cities and nations, killed millions of people, and almost destroyed the world hundreds of times over. For the first time, science and spirituality had to mutually cooperate to bring the Outside World back to the light and bring harmony here and the stars above. However, Outside forces beyond do not share this belief, and will continue to threaten and challenge all.
Your Excellency, Shogun Taishi, your people look to you to guide them in the Outside World that is in need of your divine kind the most. Will the spiritual wealth of your land once again bring honor to spirits and gods: present, past, and forgotten? Will your people help lay down the burdens of the past? Will you be able to protect your people from threats to this balance?
Can you build a civilization that will stand the test of time? (lol roflmao)
Can you build a civilization that will stand the test of time? (Draft 1)
I’ve been wanting to do continue evolving this muse for her “main verse,” ironing out all kinds of things. Seeing the thread Personality is the most important things about your character actually helped me quite a bit more than I thought. She has quite a number of contradictions that makes her well rounded, and helps people understand where some of her anger comes from.
One of which is because she has to compensate from being in a way, a somewhat disliked species-- or at least her Alternian troll side. I actually based it upon the RL dislike of Homestuck trolls in some environments , so one of the things I give her is a hardcore patriotic mentality. She values patriotism, loyalty, and piety ... all of which can be a mixed bag (as one can see IRL). Taishi is frustrated by the fact that Gensokyo is sometimes divided and frustrated that she wants the place to open up to the Outside World and assert sovereignty.
Part of her patriotic mentality is her obsession with religiosity and spiritual purity. Gensokyo of course is a very spiritually and divine infused location, so she takes that to heart-- to the point of constantly wanting to visit shrines and temples to pray. Also quite self-hating her troll side, feeling it unclean from her ancestors’ violent past towards themselves and others.
Her loyalty is extreme-- if she fines someone she at least finds deserving of respect, she pretty much attaches herself unconditionally. She actually prefers to be under someone of divine responsibility-- despite her power hungry attitude. It itself becomes ... quite contradictory. She is pretty much quite like a Gensokyan Paladin or Templar .... but also can act as a zealous crusader.
Finally I do use a Civ V introduction and use her “future” description to try to give Taishi a direction that she has to work towards-- despite her major flaws of her bad attitude, inherent rage, and constant self-hating feel. Yet she loves Gensokyo with every bit of her heart and mind and desires her soul pure ... so she keeps trying, and trying.
God she’s very complicated .-. more than I ever thought she would be.

Greetings and blessings be upon you Sei-i Taishogun Taishi Tysato, Second Brood Half Oni-Troll of Gensokyo. You have been appointed by the Shrine Maiden Reimu Hakurei as the Head of the Hakurei Shogunate. It is from your love of Gensokyo exceeds all others; your loyalty not to a faction, but to the land itself that brought appointment. It is 2065, and you have brought to Gensokyo final unification to the land and brought with it representation to the Outside World.
For more than 150 years, the region has closed itself to the faithless Outside World. The land became the home of enlightened oni, youkai, trolls, and humans that live in symbiosis with each other. Many wield spiritual dominion, and the mastery of the arcane– a civilization of magic that is the envy of the rest of the world and beyond.
The people’s ability of danmaku and Spellcards is of amazement, beauty, power, and of awe to all. The creativity in music, the arts, and letters is unparalleled since ancient times. Yet you all “… sought not the bounty of objects, but the bounty of the heart.” You all have created the pinnacle of true co-existence.
When the humans of the Outside World finally discovered faster than light space travel and subsequent true First Contact, your nation became unsealed. Interstellar travel has brought an nigh infinite source of faith, bringing no need to hide nor be endangered. Your kind has brought with exposure a breath of inspiration needed to finally unify as a single world.
It is said that your land is “… a paradise for many youkai and a few humans. It will remain a paradise until humans are destroyed, or it is discovered by humans.” They were right. You have assisted in bringing final peace to the world and ready to start spreading it beyond the stars. Not by pointless destruction" like Lunarians, but deliver the Gensokyan hand of divine intervention-- regionally, globally, and beyond.
Oh Honorable Shogun Taishi, you live in crossroads that the Outside World needs your unified and scared kind the most. To deliver the Red and White, the Hakurei Yin-and-Yang fly far and wide. Will you convince the world to again honor the gods: present, past, and forgotten? Can you fulfill Gensokyo's final destiny as a guide for humanity and more? Will your unified kind help the reconstruct a world ravaged by war?
Can you build a civilization that will stand the test of time? (lol roflmao)
❖ subversivesaint (rip)
Send me a ❖ and my muse will kiss yours
The Marine gives the half troll a quick peck on the hand and then starts praying he doesn’t get hit by her.
Taishi blinks, staring down at him for some time, then takes his hand, returning said kiss to it. And then slapping him with his own hand.
“... stop hitting yourself.”
... The Past and Our Future? Or ... Not?
The marine slowly and steadily came back to his senses he looked around after a while. He heard Taishi speak to him, telling him to take deep breaths to relax. He did as instructed and took several deep breath. His listened to her ask him if there was anything she could do to help him. He blinked a couple times and continued with the deep breaths until his heart rate fell back to normal.
“I’d like something. Anything will do.” He said slowly as he continued to calm down. He looked up at the ceiling to focus on the pattern above. Eventually, once his heartbeat and breathing settled down to a relaxed level, he looked back down at Taishi.
Taishi keeps gazing to Lucas peacefully. “Okay. Now I will be getting up, Lucas. I will be getting some warm green tea. After all ... I do live in a repurposed small tea house. So, why not. Some tea to calm the nerves a little.”
She slowly gets up from her knees, graceful as if a Shinto priest were to get up from their knees with both legs planted on the ground. “Getting up ... and I’ll first open the door to the small garden I keep. Not exactly fancy, a bit run down, but is mine.” Taishi moves to slowly slide the door open to a modest garden. Matained by herself, her obsession with worship and prayer included making such things.
The half-troll knows well about issues that can affect them both in a similar manner, so she works with what she knows.
“Now I will go and make it. Okay?”

“Thank you for being respectful. This is my home. It is Gensokyo. I remember who lives here and doesn’t. You are new.”
“You remember, everyone?”, He was a bit surprised by that, certainly that must be quite a lot of people to remember. “I’d figured it was less remembering everyone and more noticing I stick out like a sore thumb, off model and off design, for where I was.”
Certainly he had the clothes and the demeanor for such an exotic place, but there was one key problem, he was a guy and he looked too unique in gensokyo to be a native.
He gave a little chuckle at the meta nature of what he’d said, smiling at her, “Kidding aside, yes I am new, i’m simply doing a bit of adventuring, is all. Exploring somewhere i’ve never been is a grand adventure.”
She folds her arms and keeps looking down at him for some time.
“Well you have come for an adventure alright. Right now, we’re in the middle of a long term incident. So, do report to the local clinic here if you fall asleep with nightmares. It is also not very safe. However, I will ascertain you are looking for a ... little danger.” Taishi only makes a wide grin.
She can only imagine what they would do to him-- he’s literally fresh meat, so to say.
heirapparently:
“Visitors…?”, He tilted his head a bit, eh.
“Well. Now you know. And now I know who you are too. So… it’s nice to make your acquaintance, Taishi.”
Mindful of her clothes and attitude, he gave her a bow out of respect.
Likewise, she returns a light bow to him, before folding her arms.

bunbunmaru-shimbun replied to your post:Hi i’m awake.
(subversivesaint): Hi Awake. I am Taishi.
Okay it was funny the first time but… Hi Taishi, i’m Johnathan… What’s up?
“Nothing. Just wondering who are you. I keep seeing visitors I never seen before.”
“... Now that I have calmed down a little ...”
“... Let’s see what is going on ...”
//For those I wrote that out of being extremely IC-- I will put that as a non-shareable sub-page with zero context of how it happened; this described her and their history far too well.
//There will be further explanation. It’s a good dive into Taishi’s mind-- and is a good description for her 2015 (present) version.
