Because Succulents Keep Me Sane

So many houseplants, so little time.

I’m incredibly upset that one of my plants has mealy bugs! See the little white specs? Those are mealies! This is just one rosette on a larger plant that I’ve had for 4 years. I’ve spent the last few weeks treating her and keeping her in quarantine, but the bugs keep coming back. I think a plant that I bought at Home Depot is to blame. I put her outside for some fresh air and better sun and she got sunburnt. I think that even if she survives, she’ll be so disfigured that it will take years for her to recover. 😩😩😩😩😩

I saw these for sale at JoAnn Fabric. Adorable, but obviously unhappy, even from a distance. Upon closer inspection, I saw that they had mealy bugs. I think it’s crummy for a place to sell plants that are infested will infest & kill all of your other plants.

Happy Easter! My Hatiora gaertneri aka Easter cactus is in full flower today! 😀

Over the winter my sedum nussbaumeranium flowered for the first time in 3 years! It was such a happy surprise when I saw the buds emerging. It must be happy in this particular window.

Oppsie, I accidentally touched my opuntia and it got me! These tiny hair like spines really sting if they work their way under your skin!

Flowers on my sedum craggii. The pale yellow provides lovely contrast with the purple leaves. It's amazing how nature how color theory figured out!

I’m about to separate the pups from this cluster of Haworthia Cymbiformis a.k.a Cathedral Window and its so beautiful that I had to snap a photo.

My Aeonium "Kiwi" is looking so awesome. Right after this photo was taken I repotted him in a larger pot so that he had more space to grow.

The Michigan Cactus and Succulent Society sale was held in September. I worked all year to propagate plants and I ended up with about 1,000 plants for sale. I sold everything! It was crazy crowded - more people attended this year than ever before! We hope to have a bigger space next year and more cashiers so that the line isn't so long. Thanks to everyone who came out!
