The Burger still gets made, even if you go Vegan. If you don’t buy it, it just winds up in the trash. If you want to do something meaningful about waste, you need legislation: It must become a crime to waste food in those ways.
If you care about Animal Cruelty in Factory Farms, you need to get legislation passed. It must become a crime to mistreat animals in those ways, and when malfeasances occurs, the onus of responsibility for those crimes must fall upon wealthy shoulders. That, also, requires legislation. It requires regulations, and regulators.
The largest source of Microplastics is wear and tear on automobile tires. It doesn’t matter what brand of shampoo you buy. It doesn’t matter which company you support with your dollar. The issue of Public Transit is too large-scale to be handled at anything less than the municipal level.

Is a little disappointing the lack of solidarity of the people of this site that are supposedly champions of human rights. They point out to you that when you don't reblog their activism post, they demand you to be aware of every violation of human rights that happens in their country but take zero minutes to read and learn what is happening somewhere else. For years I have been on this site. I have never seen them to have any interest in anything that is happening in Argentina regarding human rights or the weather crisis. So, it is not such a surprise that when suddenly a hate campaign against this country happened they got in or just ignored it. The multiple posts that argue back the hate campaign written in english circles in blogs of argentinian mostly. How is it that you don’t have anything to say or any sympathy for a country that woke up being the biggest demon of the world, while those countries that invaded you, kept occupation in yours, and maybe even slavery your people get away with it?? This campaign shows us that those woke/lefties of the global north have the same colonialist mindset as the right wing, that they don't recognize us as equal and at best they will show pity. Also show us that those that are like us, historically oppressed, don’t exercise the necessary international solidarity between people that is so important to defeat the powers that keep us oppressed. You, tumblr user, are a posser.

David Wojnarowicz,1988
Wojnarowicz died in his Manhattan home on July 22, 1992 at the age of 37, from what his boyfriend, Tom Rauffenbart, confirmed was AIDS
His memoir — a series of essays and vignettes that starts out fairly experimental, at first reflecting on his life as a homeless teenage prostitute at truck stops and in Times Square, then progressively becoming more lucid and political as his partner dies from AIDS — is one of the best, most underrated American memoirs. It’s called Close to the Knives, one of my absolute favorite books of all time.
His longest, most serious partner was the artist Peter Hujar who helped him quit heroin and mentored him as an artist. The AIDS focused chapters are mainly centered around his rage and grief watching Peter and other friends die.
Wojnarowicz is also one of the artists featured in Olivia Laing’s excellent book The Lonely City. There’s also a documentary about him on Youtube. I really recommend looking into learning about him and his art, it’s very interesting and he was incredibly talented
