It was something she knew people also did with her, so she was in no way afraid of upsetting the younger girl. After all, if Sugar truly wanted to be a star, she’d need to learn to take constructive criticism. “There’s nothing personal in your song choices whatsoever! If truth were told, Sugar had long since given up on people hearing her talk at all in glee practice, let alone hear her suggestions. Which was likely why they’d grown from the hopeful: we should so do that new Fall out Boy song, through to staying quiet, right round to saying the most outrageous, just to see if she was even noticed. She hadn’t expected anyone to actually call her out on it. “Music is just music, right? Like, sure, some can make us emotional, but - it should be fun.” She nods, gaining confidence in the argument, knowing it’s the only way she’s likely to get away with it, “So fun is good. Right?”

Brittany pulled Sugar in for a hug, and she was really proud that her friend felt comfortable enough with her to tell her the personal thoughts that she was having. Brittany knew first hand how much someone could struggle with it, so she knew how to be there for Sugar. “And if you ever want to make out with me, just let me know.”

“If I’m totally honest,” and Sugar tries to be these days, even if it’s difficult, even if it’s so much easier to just lie, “I really completely want to make out with you. But I’m pretty sure I’ve got to be at least somewhat responsible and give it time. Plus maybe, maybe make sure Artie knows we’re actually broken up.”
