“Rest in peace, my son,” Rachelle Fraenkel, standing in front of her son’s flag-draped body. “We’ll learn to sing without you. We’ll always hear your voice inside.”
The bodies of Eyal Yifrah, 19, from Elad; Gilad Sha’ar, 16, from Talmon; and Naftali Frenkel, also 16, from Nof Ayalon - who were murdered nearly three weeks ago by terrorists after being abducted on their way home from school - were laid to rest side by side this afternoon in Modi’in cemetery.
At the start of the ceremony, the fathers of the three murdered teens recited kaddish together, facing the flag-draped bodies of their sons.
People from across the country poured into the towns of Talmon, Nof Ayalon, and Elad. Standing in direct sunlight for hours, mourners’ sweat mixed with tears as politicians, rabbis, and family members memorialized the three boys.
With some speaking haltingly and others crying out loudly, friends, relatives, community leaders and government ministers took to podiums one by one to eulogize Naftali Fraenkel, 16, Gil-ad Shaar, 16, and Eyal Yifrach, 19, who were kidnapped on the night of June 12 at a hitchhiking post south of Jerusalem.
