I hate but love that its not revealed until the VERY end of mdzs/the untamed that jiang cheng actually sacrificed himself first for wwx like you spend the entire time frustrated with this man bc he’s a giant butthead like after the fall of lotus pier when we first find out he ‘’returned’’ to lotus pier like why would he do something that reckless and stupid. but you can’t blame him like oh he’s so consumed by grief that he wanted to die but No we find out in the last fucking episode he made a conscious decision to distract the wens to save his brother and let himself be tortured and core-melted because he didn’t want to lose anymore of his family and then he never tells wwx about it !!! leaving wwx to think he made the initial sacrifice by giving him his golden core and the cycle of miscommunication continues! i hate scorpios !

You know what I wanna see? Jin Ling having some kind of work experience program with Mianmian. Not only would it be good for his character, but she's probably his best and only way to really know abt his parents. Everyone who knew Yanli loved her but not many people knew her, honestly ; Mianmian did. And JZX, bless his heart, was only known by most distantly, as an arrogant prick. She knew him best. And she's badass and a mom. It would be the BEST learning experience.

Someone (not me, please send help) needs to write an AU where Mianmian is like “fuck I’m not letting those two disasters that are his uncles raise him” and she just kidnaps Jin Ling and is like “I’m your mom now”.

concept: Mianmian just routinely ‘kidnaps’ Jin Ling every spring. at first it was a big screaming deal with people assuming she was out for revenge and trying to track them down but then Jin Ling always returned every time with some new skills and a calmer attitude, seemingly just thinking it was like some normal training exercise to have an ex-member rogue cultivator from your sect turn up and drag you off to some unspecified mountain for a few weeks.

so eventually people just stopped worrying about it and further it eventually stopped being weird, and then Wei Wuxian reincarnated and didn’t find out about it until he was out wandering and bumped into Mianmian with Jin Ling and was like ‘???’ and then got the details and laughed his ass off for days.

I love the idea of mianmian being Jin Ling’s ideal rolemodel for parenting/cultivation but ALSO I just, think of the stories she could tell him? The “I remember when your dad was your age he….” of it all? No one else can give that to him. Imagine what it would do for him to feel close to someone who knew his dad.

Look, I just need Jin Ling to know how much of a Disaster Het his father was. I need him to know about that one time jzx bought the most expensive prettiest lotus shaped hairpiece Jin gold could buy and was pacing in the forest trying to figure out how to give it to jyl as mianmian is trying to talk him down from a breakdown when suddenly they hear the yunmeng sibs approaching. I need mianmian to explain how in a moment of pure disaster het panic, jzx chucks the hairpiece into a tree and picks a fight with Disaster Bi wwx as soon as they come into view, which mianmian then had to defuse.

I want him to know that jzx later dragged mianmian back into the forest to see if they could find the really really very expensive hairpiece so they could anonymously gift it to jyl, only to find that it had been taken by a bird for its nest. And then how jzx ended up fighting a whole flock of birds even tho mianmian told him to just let the bird have the damn jewelry already. And how that’s why the next day jzx had to go out with an excessively powdered face to hide all the scratches and scrapes from his humiliating avian defeat bc he didn’t even get the jewelry back.

(jzx ends up paying NHS to paint a beautiful fan for jyl and then pays him MORE to present it to her as just a random friendship gift from the nie clan to the Jiang clan, and then PAYS EVEN MORE to make sure NHS keeps his mouth shut about it, bc NHS knows that if you’re good at something, you never do it for free—this had been, ofc, mianmian’s idea to begin with but jzx just had to go make things harder for himself like always)
