Scroll the reblogs on the announcement for good points to raise. If nothing else, according to Tumblr’s own policy you have to be 13 years old to make an account, so any account that was made more than 5 years ago must be at least 18 years of age or is already breaking policy, thereby making it not Tumblr’s problem.

For now, it looks like if you don’t hand over your identity, you’ll just be locked out of “mature” posts (which include paintings of fruit, but not sexually explicit ads, even though actual human-made porn isn’t allowed at all regardless of content tag).
