I’m not sure if what was you — I think it was! But my memory is like… the equivalent of a colander — but a few years ago, in 2019/2020 (I think), I was on the KotLC Discord server, and I was dealing with some things, and you and I somehow began talking.

When I left Discord, we kept in touch via email, and you helped me with a whole lot. I remember that. It was a very difficult time in my life, and I couldn’t turn to anyone in real life and you… you just let a complete stranger email you all of their insecurities, and you gave advice and comforted me, and looking back, I honestly cannot believe that you did all of that and did it about a month (or even longer — I’m not sure, my memory is… Not It).

I will never be able to express how much that meant to me and words are inadequate for the difference and positive impact you had, and have, on me. I shudder to think of where I may be now, or if I might even have been here now, had you not been such a pillar of strength when I needed it most. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you, thank you, with all my heart. Words truly fall short, but I think of you sometimes, and how selfless and kind you were to a thirteen year old who didn’t know how to talk to people, who was dealing with more than she could keep up with. Just… again, I’m not sure if I have the right person (I think I do! But it I’m wrong, I’m so sorry, just delete this). But if I do: thank you, Em. Thank you for everything.

I’m sixteen now, taking life by the horns at every moment. I have friends, both online and offline. My family and I are much closer. I am mostly at peace with myself. Just, in case you ever wonder about that email chain of ours: I turned out alright, and so much of that is thanks to you. I think you saved my life. And I do not have the words to express the depth of my thanks for that, but I just hope that life has been treating you with the same happiness and goodness that it has granted me. You are such an amazing person, and I wish you all the best. I hope you’re doing well, amazing, great. I hope that you have people in your life who know how lucky they are to have you.

But most of all: thank you. You… saved a kids’ life. And you won’t get a news article for it, as people who do things like that often do, but you will have kept a teenager on this Earth for longer than they thought they would be here. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

if the lost cities don't completely change by the end of this series, hands will be thrown. no one in this fantasy world truly wants to acknowledge just how many lives have been ruined and ended by their stupid prejudices and marriage control and suppression. maybe even a lot of fans don't realize exactly how fucked up this entire world is.

take brant as an example. he went from being a little kid in a pet shop, telling a pretty girl that she could have the gremlin they both wanted, to sending the sappiest love letters ever written to that same girl, to losing his mind and murdering the love of his life. all because he was told he was unworthy to marry the girl of his dreams because he had a talent very few people understood, and yet everyone was trying to control anyway.

every single character that we come across in this series who is married to someone not strictly matchmaker approved has now gone and joined one of two rebel groups. even timkin heks joins the black swan, and he was technically not even a bad match.

the council needs to wake the fuck up and realize that surprise, you actually SUCK at this leadership thing and you are completely worthless! please and thank you now feel free to die in a hole (except you bronte i live for you).

I’m from Malaysia (a smol South East Asia country in between the more famous Thailand and Singapore), my country usually uses the term “toilet” for bathroom stalls but my workplace uses “water closet” so I’m stuck with that term :3 (also my country’s English education syllabus is based on British English so that might factor in why my workplace uses W.C. ? Do British people call it WC too? 🤔)

and that's super cool! you're pretty far away from me because I'm from Hungary, also a smol country but in Central Europe. it's kinda funny to me that we use the same term even though my country doesn't even have English as an official language and doesn't use it all that much so I guess it just seeped into our language from somewhere haha

Hungary is in a dire situation vis a vis LGBTQIA+ rights at the moment and we need all the help we can get

for those who aren't familiar, Hungary is a small country in Central Europe with a democratic government in power, or at least that's what it's supposed to be but corruption has been on the rise recently and we fear that the the political power is slowly turning into a dictatorship

the party at the head of our government, Fidesz, wants to pass a law that would ban education and public service advertisements on LGBTQIA+ matters for anyone under the legal age of 18 and any. this will not only strip us of our basic rights and freedom of speech but it will also put many young people in danger, since not receiving preventive education and affirmative support has been statistically linked to an increase in mental health issues and suicide rates among the youth

this new amendment will be put to vote on June 15th, Tuesday morning (Central Europe time, GMT+1). a petition has been created against this initiation which can be signed by anyone regardless of geographic location:
