But do I desire that man carnally, and am I really excited by the idea of topping to the point where I’m willing to throw it all away in a lust filled haze??? … Yes. As soon as we unblock him THE SITUATIONSHIP IS BACK ON! WE’RE MAKING EACH OTHER WORSE AND GOING DOWN TOGETHER! HAND IN UNLOVABLE HAND!!!

if you want to see the reader make good, healthy decisions… don’t read SLLC. or even STBOTDI. i know y’all are here to see her make the messiest decisions possible and I am here to make that happen ☺️

I really weirdly appreciate how anxious you made the reader in SLLC. It’s really fun and interesting to see how STBOTDI affected her, because of course it would, but it would’ve been really easy to just say, “Hey, she’s anxious!” and move on. I really love the way you actually show it instead.

Immediately, you were overcome with guilt in addition to your anxiety. You knew how much sleep Bruce got– not a lot– and now you’ve pulled him from it for something stupid that could be handled with the techniques your therapist had provided you. But you couldn’t remember any of them and calling Bruce was easier.

I only have this part here, but this whole interaction between the reader and Bruce is so, so, so cute, and I can genuinely feel her anxiety because part of me wants Bruce to go to sleep, but another part desperately wants her to keep talking to him hahaha! I think I’ve told you this before, but you really have a special way of making me feel like the reader. STBOTDI was the first fic that made me feel so immersed in the world-building and the characters, and SLLC has that same charm. (well duh its your writing ofc it will have the same charm!)

Sometimes while I’m reading SLLC, I feel like a middle-aged woman screaming at the TV or laughing at the sarcastic quips the narrator makes. if you ever wonder if anyone laughs at these:

The part where I was genuinely screaming at the TV was during her mental struggle over the Vicky Vale interview. GIRL, you are mentally unstable! Please at least PREPARE before you go! i’m so skeptical about this you have no idea!!!

And Marie and Bridget!!! OMG, I was so happy they showed up and had their sex and the city moment! I also love how surprisingly supportive they are as friends. Like, you cannot casually tell your friends that you had sex with TWO wanted criminals and have the worst reaction be a few jokes about it 😭 They really are the “We make questionable choices + Marie” friend group! Also Harvey Dent mention im going insane I want them all interacting NOW!

Half of you felt like it wasn’t fair to be upset at Edward for not immediately answering the phone when you called. Was he supposed to just wait by the phone all day for you? The other half knew you were being more than fair when he was the one who left you cryptic demands and provided no time frame for their completion. And knew that, if he wanted to, he could very well wait by the phone all day for you.

Oh boy… Edward… I’m so excited for him! When she kept calling and he didn’t answer, I immediately imagined him like that episode of The Office where Michael listens to Jan’s voicemail and keeps replaying the part where she says, “I guess I missed you!” I have a feeling he’s still a little pissed off at her, but let’s see how this goes!!!

god, I live for your annotations of my work. I appreciate all the thought and time you take into sending me these!

It was really important to me when conceptualizing a sequel to STBOTDI to keep in mind how the events would effect the reader, just as I had to think about how the events pre-STBOTDI effected her throughout the text. Perhaps its a bit easier for me to write as a anxiety/OCD sufferer, but I appreciate that it resonates with someone else!

also I love the comparison of you to a middle-aged woman screaming at her TV. don't worry, there will plenty of moments in the fic for you to react like that to. the reader is, as you mentioned, not very stable and prone to impulsivity. which makes for excellent "what the fuck are you doing right now" moments.

No comment on Vikki Vale but you are right to be wary.

I love Marie + Bridgit. I also wanted reader in this fic to have a more obvious support system so that when everything goes to shit it hurts more and they're super fun to write.

I'm super excited for Edward to re-enter the fic! (And Jonathan, too, but obviously Edward is first up). He's definitely taking a larger role in this one than he was in the previous. (Also, I'm sure he did re-listen to those voicemails. He probably likes being called names and talked down to. You know, like a FREAK (affectionate).)
