The look of disbelief on Hans's face after Henry comes back during That Scene always really gets me, because Henry takes a looong time to turn around and Henry pushing him away clearly felt like a rejection, so Hans is stewing in all these awful emotions about how he's just fucked it all up again, only this time it isn't some silly mission he's fucked up, its the only real friendship he's ever had. Just look at his FACE. He's imagining all the worst scenarios in his head right now!

But then Henry turns around, spins him into a kiss, and lays him down onto the bed and Hans can't believe it. It's really happening, he didn't mess it all up, and more importantly, Henry wants this too. This face, the tiny smile, the soft look of both joy and surprise. I'm so 😭😭😭

Thinking about how Hans is in love with Henry whether or not you actively choose to romance him, knowing that one day he’s going to have to marry Jitka but constantly trying to get Henry to stay by his side with all the times he mentions giving him land or quarters at Rattay. Henry’s voice cut through the haze that had settled over Hans’s thoughts.

He blinked.

For a moment, he had completely forgotten where he was.

Or rather, what had stolen his attention.

Henry stood only a few steps away, flushed from training, sweat glistening on his skin. Without a second thought, he lifted the hem of his shirt and wiped his face.

Hans immediately regretted looking.

“Hans?”

Hans stared.

“Is everything alright?”

“What?” He straightened. “Oh. Yes. Yes, of course.”

Henry lowered his shirt and frowned.

“Then why are you looking at me like that?”

Hans’s eyes darted away for all of half a second before finding their way back.

“You sweat.”

Henry raised an eyebrow.

“And you stink.”

That earned him a short laugh. “Well, we have been training.”

“Right.”

A silence settled between them. Hans cleared his throat.

“We should take a bath.”

Henry tilted his head.

“…We?”

Hans froze. A heartbeat passed. Then another.

“You should take a bath.”

The corner of Henry’s mouth twitched.

“I see.”

The thing about the KCD2 romance paths is it really kind of feels like Katherine is too busy being a spy and wrangling Zizka like a cat for Henry to even register as a long term romantic partner for her (and that’s without the added context of her Tragic Backstory), Rosa probably would marry Henry if he wasn’t a bastard but she knows she can’t, and so they have one bittersweet night together with the understanding that it isn’t meant to be, and then Hans is like. “Hey Henry, let’s do our best to delay my upcoming arranged marriage as long as possible in some place more private, and then after that you’ll still be my loyal squire that I would die if anything happened to, right?”

When trying to be affectionate (or to tease) Frodo goes all formal with Sam, going as far as to call me "Master Samwise" and "Samwise Gamgee, the master of Bag End", whereas Sam does quite the contrary and goes completely overboard with "Frodo-love", "Frodo-dear" and "Frodo my beloved", dropping the formalities.
